The only reason I have time to read so much is because I lost my job. Normally I only have about 20 mins every morning to read. Now I have *hours*. It makes a difference, and I read fast (probably 100ish pages an hour on a good day).

So far this year I've read #IronWidow, #HowlsMovingCastle and The Fall of Gondolin (one of the big Lord of the Rings tales from the First Age). Not a bad start. Next up is Emily Wilson's translation of the Odyssey, seeing as how I read her Iliad translation last year. #Booksky #reading

For me it's the entire Kushiel's Dart trilogy by Jacqueline Carey. It's a part of me now, it's in the marrow of my bones. Every so often I hear an echo of it in my blood. The setting, the characters, the sheer magnitude of the story, all so lush and detailed. 12/10 no notes.

it starts happening here and hands are wrung and govts start to notice. We can't deny it any more; the solutions to these problems have to come from the people most impacted, backed by the money from the corporations that caused them. Women, esp #BIPOC women, need to sit at the head of the table.

Hope is hard to come by these days, but not impossible. There have been some wins, but it feels like drops in the bucket compared to the ocean of rage, lies & greed we're up against. A person could die trying to survive on those drops. How far can a mouthful of hope take you in a desert of hate?
