“Parents wept over their children’s bodies. Crushed desks and blood-stained backpacks poked through the rubble.” www.propublica.org/article/trum...
It'd be interesting to know how they corrected the "overall" for the percentages within the sample group who identified as MAGA vs non-MAGA Republicans. Unless it was nearly 50-50, that average could be way off.
Friends! A US judge ruled that @KariLake has acted illegally - without proper legal authority - in running Voice of America and its federal parent agency.
I'll join @NPRinskeep at 6.45/8.45A on Morning Edition
My written story below. Tune in!

Really? I'm GenX, and most of what I've heard all the time is how aimless and apathetic GenX is.
The case against Don Lemon and Georgia Fort suggests that if they had done their reporting differently, they might not face legal liability. This notion that anyone accused of bias is not entitled to First Amendment protections is chilling. Read @joelsimonsays.bsky.social www.cjr.org/analysis/ins...
Trump canceled a major scientific report on the health of the natural world. The scientists are finishing it anyway. Yay scientists! www.nytimes.com/2026/03/05/c...
U.S. Judge says Kari Lake broke law in overseeing Voice of America.
If it holds up, his sweeping ruling would nullify just about everything she's done in the past year in trying to dismantle VoA and its sister networks.

This is great news. Finland to restore marshlands, which will (1) act as an natural barrier to deter a Russian invasion, (2) be a carbon sink to slow down climate change, (3) protect biodiversity. Superb!
The upshot here is that Mamdani is not contradicting his leaders in public.
So: What’s going on behind the scenes?
BREAKING: Judge rules Kari Lake's appointment was ILLEGAL for many months & a bunch of her actions are void
We & great partners win again!
H/t to my @democracydefendersfund.org colleagues plus AFSCME, AFGE, Emery Celli, Democracy Forward & more. Wow, just wow.
Free Press condemns immigration officials for the targeting, arrest and detention of journalist Estefany Rodriguez, a reporter with Nashville Noticias.
ICE's targeting of Rodriguez is a violation of her First Amendment rights as a member of the media.
Our statement:
Science denial is a helluva drug!
Maybe it'd be okay if we didn't come back from this. It might be nice to be a citizen of a United States that had the military ambitions of Luxembourg.
ICE has arrested and detained a Nashville journalist who reported stories critical of ICE. She’s married to a U.S. citizen and has been seeking asylum here after fleeing death threats in Colombia because of her journalism there.
They’ve already sent her to Louisiana.
"She frequently reported on stories critical of ICE for Nashville Noticias, the Spanish-language outlet."

His apparent inability to perceive the dark irony of that statement is astonishing.
👀 New letter from 29 NYS Senators (>2/3 of the Dem caucus) to Hochul this morning:
“We categorically oppose any effort to rollback New York’s nation-leading climate law… and urge you to stand strong in the face of misinformation that seeks to blame the CLCPA for the energy affordability crisis”

But what happens when the times don’t end, as they are wont to not do?
It struck me today that Hegseth is acting like a kid who’s cracked a video game and given his avatar admin powers.
Hi NYCers. If you need a reason to leave work early, A Matter of Britain is showing at 4:30pm today at MoMA, and it's great. www.moma.org/calendar/eve...
Nice one.
Ha, at first glance I read it as "...pipeline to Palpatine."
Listening to Sen. Andy Kim (D-NJ) on @wnyc.org, I realize we're at a point of legitimate nostalgia for the GWBush admin., which "at least" tried making a public case for the 2003 Iraq war, and "at least" was urging US citizens well ahead of time to get out of the region.
"On 19 August 1953, Prime Minister of Iran Mohammad Mosaddegh was overthrown in a coup d'état that strengthened the rule of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the shah of Iran. It was instigated by the United Kingdom (MI6) [and] and the United States (CIA)..." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_Ir...

Photographer Junn Bollmann was arrested in LA on Friday after being indicted on the same civil rights charges as journalists @donlemonofficial.bsky.social and @bygeorgiafort.bsky.social for covering January protests at a MN church.
Federal agents also seized his devices:
I miss the Noho Star, which was on the corner of Lafayette and Bleeker. Friendly, quiet, food always good. One of the few places it felt comfortable dining solo. I loved sitting there watching the world go by on the other side of the tall windows over a cup of coffee, or reading the paper paper.
Some bullet points that I post from time to time. My answer to a reader who asked me: what could our journalists do NOW to break with some of their more corrosive habits.
