Very smart.
Iran is considering allowing a limited number of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz but only if the cargo is traded in Chinese yuan, CNN reports.
The dollar is dying on its feet.
Declaring that no quarter will be given unequivocally violates international humanitarian law. Indeed, ordering that no quarter will be given, threatening an adversary therewith or conducting hostilities on this basis is prohibited and constitutes a war crime.
No quarter!!?!?
An illegal War
No plan No Strategy No Idea
“Feelings”?
Trump is mad
âś‹ Former USG war crimes lawyer here.
Apropos of SecDef's remarks this morning:
Denial of quarter—even the declaration of no quarter—is a war crime.
And recognized as such by the US Government.
From DoD's Manual for Military Commissions.
Looks like Starmer is keen to avoid firms profiteering during this Iran crisis to protect consumers.
A different approach to Tories during the COVID crisis, with PPE etc.
Cheerful stuff in the FT. Trump has started something that he cannot control. This is arguably far more significant for the world economy than the oil crises of the 1970s.
If USA has been at war with Iran for 47 years and Trump disagreed with what previous Presidents had done,
why did Trump not say during the Election Campaign that he would attack Iran and destabilise the World Economy?
OR was it just on a "feeling" one morning when he woke up.
This is the person in charge of US Military?
Does he think he is in a Hollywood Film?
Trump can't control the Iran War but want to control the reporting.
But if USA won on Day 1 ....
Of course Iran is still viewed as a threat by most EU/UK states. But with Iran chased out of Syria and Hezbollah in a dire position in Lebanon, the challenge Iran poses is far less central to European strategic thinking than Russia
EU is trying to fund Ukraine's defence against Russia
Trump is enabling Russia to fund its war against Ukraine whilst Russia assists Iran to attack Americans
"They don't like the EU" — Kallas
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas says the US has made it "very clear" it wants to divide Europe — and warns member states not to cut side deals with Trump. "We are equal powers when we are together."

I notice that Starmer's Government is slowly distancing from USA with subtle criticisms and actions rejecting his approach and moving closer to EU.
This is the right approach. We fought Fascism nearly 100 years ago, Starmer is fighting a more modern US version now.
He is just making things up, and the whole world knows the truth. The United States has never looked weaker because of these lies and his complete lack of a plan or strategy. Wars cannot be won with gaslighting and Truth Social posts.
Trump has demonstrated the depth of depravity of the RW Billionaire Trump Think; contrary to all standards of public life and morality
Whilst not perfect, EU is a beacon of light for Democracy and Human Rights
Farage and BadEnoch are willing to support Trump Think and attack EU
Not to be trusted.
I agree with Liberal Democrats on this point.
Presumably Trump (the greatest tactician there has ever been?) did not "feel" that Iranians might actually react to being bombed and assassinated.
Yep. But the dominance of the RW media means the good work is not reported - hate and division makes more noise. Of course some so called labour supporters are red raw socialist and not social democrats.
The Polanski Show is starting to fade especially after the intrusion of reality with the Iran War
When you ask what Polanski would have done when faced with the Iran situation at that weekend, I am sure that I would trust his judgment
Still he handles the media well, as did Boris Johnson of course
“Like the UK, Switzerland has sought to preserve formal sovereignty while maintaining privileged access to the EU market. However… access often entails alignment, whether formalised or not. Sovereignty outside the EU does not eliminate interdependence; it reshapes it.”

Whilst BadEnoch is keen to keep Starmer to a high standard, how is it she is allowed to mislead without repercussions.
Oh of course she, like Farage, is RW and that is par for he course.
Farage and BadEnoch would have UK totally subservient to USA, at the mercy of Russia and even more dependent on foreign oil and gas.
Starmer has shown he can be trusted with UK Border Security, UK Economy, Energy Security and UK National Interest.
Whilst attention is on the Iran War, the direct threat to Europe is still Russia in Ukraine. Oban in Hungary is preventing EU funding to Ukraine whilst he relies on Russian misinformation to win another general election.
Time for EU to get tough with Oban who Trump is backing to break up EU.
Wholesale electricity was nearly free overnight because of wind power. Why isn't that headline news on #r4today?
So the US has further eased sanctions on Russian oil, now across the board. Should the US now be considered a NATO/EU ally or a Russian ally? No doubt this will be a high agenda item when Emmanuel Macron hosts Volodymyr Zelensky at the Elysee today.
A grim parallel between US escalating a trade war w/ China & realising that China has serious leverage in the form of rare earths & US launching a war vs Iran & realising Iran has serious leverage in the form of being able to blow up the world economy. Failure of statecraft.
