Good essay. Klion is even-handed but it seems to me as simple as the fact that the NY intellectual social milieu ppl like Rieff have relied on has been replaced by Twitter and accordingly degenerated.

Back in the twitter days I would interact with Rieff a bit, and I could see him falling further and further down this anti-woke rabbit hole. I appreciate this accounting by @davidklion.bsky.social
