Chelsea and more for The Athletic

Hi Tim - I can't rule it out but I haven't heard that from anyone. It's true they have invested more in other areas, but they tend to go for "market opportunities" rather than experience/proven quality all over the pitch. The downside of that policy is always going to be most glaring in goal

If Chelsea want to rule Europe, they need a world-class goalkeeper The demands of the club's playing style require the kind of skillset that neither Filip Jorgensen or Robert Sanchez possesses

Well into the third proper season of this BlueCo project, Chelsea still don’t have a goalkeeper good enough to make their style of play viable at the highest level.

It cost them dearly in Paris.

Rewatching Chelsea-PSG in the Club World Cup final: What we learned and didn’t learn Chelsea beat PSG in the Club World Cup final last year, but what we learned from that match is different in retrospect

I rewatched last summer's Club World Cup final ahead of tonight's game in Paris.

Here are some things we did learn, and some we didn't

Understandable excitement from #CFC fans over seeing Levi Colwill in training earlier. This is not the first time he’s been with the group but it is still early days in terms of playing again. It is still a good sign & the hope/plan is he will play before the end of the season.

Tonight would be a great time for it to change, but nothing in his Chelsea career so far has suggested Jorgensen is as good as Sanchez. Huge call from Rosenior.

Sanchez has now lost the trust of three Chelsea coaches. Maybe an upgrade is needed on both?
