For @nytimes.com I am looking to speak with American home buyers who have been trying to buy their first home this spring. How competitive is the market in your area? How are you thinking about mortgage rates? Home prices? My DMs are open or email ronda.kaysen@nytimes.com

A big thank you to the pharmacy staff that worked with my patient to find where their out of stock medications were in stock at. Usually the patient has to call around and find them so this was nice!

The most prevalent cancer types associated with both short-and long-stay nursing home residents were similar: lung (18.0% vs. 15.5%), breast (9.9% vs. 12.9%), and hematological (9.9% vs. 9.6%) (Figure 1).

1 in 7 Medicaid beneficiaries received care at a nursing home following a new cancer diagnosis, with more than half of these individuals using one for the first time. Lung, breast, and hematological were most prevalent. #gerisky #medsky agsjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

The damage being done to American science, particularly in the area of medical research will cost countless lives and take decades to repair. This is truly a catastrophe.

Materials produced or authored by NCI staff that address topics that may be controversial, high profile, or sensitive must be sent to the NCI Clearance Team for review prior to publication.

Depending on the nature of the information, additional review and clearance by the NCI director, deputy directors, NIH, and HHS may be required. In some cases, the material will not need further review, but the NCI Clearance Team will share it with NCI leadership, NIH, and/or HHS for their awareness.

Examples of controversial or high-profile topics include, but are not limited to:

Cancer Moonshot
NCI budget
COVID-19
Vaccines
H5N1/bird flu
Opioids ,
Marijuana
Dietary guidelines/ultra-processed foods
Obesity
Stem cell or fetal tissue research
Abortion
Autism
Peanut allergies
Fluoride
Measles
Diversity/equity efforts
Gender ideology
Environmental justice
Discussion of federal policies
Topics of federal investigations
Issues concerning pending legislation
Topics that have received recent attention from Congress
Topics that have received widespread or critical media attention

The National Cancer Institute (part of NIH) released new guidelines for "controversial, high-profile or sensitive" keywords that require "review prior to publication" if included in a product or materials.

Keywords include abortion, obesity, and peanut allergies.

Types of Exemptions Securing America's Borders

A thing that most Americans never really pay attention to, but now that there's tariffs I'll share: the personal exemption limits. Please note the great footnote to the alcohol limits: "if this is a matter of utmost importance to you, you can check with the state Alcohol Beverage Control Board"

ACOG Endorsed The following documents have ACOG’s endorsement and are listed in order of endorsed date.

The American College of OB/GYN’s website is now hosting the critical documents purged by the CDC

This is what every professional medical organization should be doing right now

The Trump administration is scrubbing the CDC’s website of documents on reproductive rights issues, sexual health, intimate partner violence, and more.

I'm trying to save them.

You can find the deleted docs at CDCGuidelines.com - I'll be adding more over the weekend.

I was set to enter a clinical trial in February.
It's since been canceled.
You are spot on with "cancer itself will not agree to such a delay."

I help with cancer research posts at work but this week felt very hard to post. What are some positive posts in cancer research or cancer research advocacy I could share in light of the NIH pause.

What the Hell Is Going on at NIH? Scientists sound the alarm about Trump’s unprecedented “Big Brother” research crackdown.

Really thankful to all of the scientists who made themselves available to talk to me about the unprecedented situation at NIH.

I've never had so many people reach out to me for a story like this.

The antidote for despair is action ❤️

* Dial (202) 224-3121
* Enter zip code
* Leave voicemail
* Say “My name is ___, I’m a constituent in [town]. (If clinician/scientist, say so)

“The NIH freeze harms research and patients and must be lifted immediately.”

Be brief. Staffers tally all calls. Go! ✅

if you’re a grant-supported researcher* and your grant funding is “paused” there’s a good chance you’re out of a job and have to switch gears in various ways and a lot of people will be committed to other work even if that “paused” resumes however long from now…
