I didn't even finish the paragraph! (character limits)
It ends with "Six soggy, sunless days of beatings if we moved too slow, beatings if we made eye contact with any of the guards, and beatings if the guards just needed someone to beat."

Not the nicest of welcomes! ๐

"Six days of dreary plodding through the Welsh mountains, where the rain never ended and the nights froze your skin. Six
soul-crushing days of watching people fall by the roadside, never to get up again. Six soggy, sunless days of beatings if we moved too slow (...)"
What a great idea! Too bad they don't actually exist. You'd make a fortune!
11.08.2025 13:21 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0When I used to commute, the most frequent causes of delays were:
1. People dying by jumping in front of trains
2. The cold freezing the switches
I don't think I ever had a bomb scare in over a decade of daily commuting.
The joys of commuting.
And seriously? You get potential threats happening THAT often on the train?
I'm an MG/YA author who has already trad-published the first 4 books in my series (5th coming out next year).
However, my agent retired.
Do you take authors mid series?
In later books, (not telling which ones), they do duck out and duck back in. ๐

Every book in my series is to a different point in history.
Bk1 - 1066 England
Bk2 - 60 Wales
Bk3 - 1179 Mongolia
Bk4 - 480 BCE Greece
Bk5 - 1429 France
Bk6 - 89 Rome
Bk7 - 1203 Constantinople
My email spam is primarily:
1. Prizes I've won
2. Norton anti-virus I didn't buy
3. Cancellation of various accounts
4. Packages I didn't order
5. Messages telling me to back off from the sender's husband/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend <-- These are new
I love this line!
"Jim doesn't travel. He's just in the one place in the universe protected from the effects of reality getting rewritten."
Happy Birthday!
I hope you do something enjoyable with the day. (I always take the day off work and go someplace fun.)
I hope you like it!

The Spartan Sacrifice has hit #1!
It won't last, but it's always great to see.

I think I still have some Ost Marks flying around somewhere.
There were a lot of people selling them as souvenirs.

Both the MCs in my series are teens, so their normal job is to be students, with my FMC also working in a pizza place part time.
However, they also resolve glitches that appear in history, and try to stop a madman bent on world domination.
Today is the release day for The Spartan Sacrifice in the US!
If highly accurate time-travel #historicalfiction is your thing, why not give my series a try?
#WritingCommunity #TimeTravelAuthors
I write highly accurate historical fiction, so a lot of the stuff I've researched is obscure. some "highlights".
-How does airag taste?
-What were the moon phases in the last week of April, 1429?
-How many arrows can an archer realistically fire into the air before the first one drops?
Thanks so much!

And I just picked places that I found interesting. Basically I wrote a series that I wanted to read. ๐
"All this is so contrived and tiring."
Couldn't agree more. I hate putting up marketing posts. I still do the odd one here and there, because my publisher wants to see activity, but I'd rather spend time writing.
The summer of 90 was great. You could feel the change in the air. I had gone from Hungary to Czechoslovakia to East Germany, and everything was so much more relaxed, but still with a slight hint of trepidation, as if people weren't sure it would last.

05.08.2025 12:23 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I like the idea that you had of using real arrows!
I'll see what I can whip up.
Berlin is really cool! I was last there in the summer of 90, so it still had the Wall, and East Germany still existed, but with the guards were much more relaxed. I still have a chunk of the Wall at home as a souvenir.
I'd love to go back there.
After waaay too much time on the internet, I finally figured out what those images with books & arrows are called: "trope arrow graphics"!
Now to research how to create them, so that I can improve on my first draft. ๐

I hope it keeps going!
