The US and Israel illegal war of aggression has entered its 11th day, so far 1,245 Iranian civilians, including 194 children have been killed by US and Israel.
With US defenses stretched, Iran may believe Israel is now more exposed and that the cost of defending it becomes politically harder for the US to sustain across all parties. Historically the US has found it very difficult to abandon Israel but with Trump there is an opportunity for betrayal.
Reducing strikes on US bases is also a signal to the US that essentially offers a route to a de-escalation off-ramp in exchange for stepping back from Israel's defense; given the political opportunity some experts do predict that the US would abandon Israel.
Iran's strategy is to weaken and deplete US bases and, make it harder for the U.S. to defend Israel effectively. Iranian officials have mentioned on several occasions that they don't see the US as their primary enemy but an entity controlled by Israel to do its bidding.
Iran's leadership believes its ballistic missile and drone strikes have successfully degraded key US radar systems and depleted interceptor stockpiles. They've effectively pushed back the US. Officials are now weighing a strategic shift toward Israeli targets in the coming days.
Russia, China, and France have reached out to Iran for a possible ceasefire; at the very least to allow their ships to cross the Strait of Hormuz. France is expected to deploy several ships to ensure ship safety. Trump is now threatening to "take over" the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran will probably be more open to a ceasefire if they are handed over Trump and Netanyahu; it would also help create goodwill towards stopping the war completely.

In Trump’s head the war ended, Iran meanwhile has pre declined all ceasefires, have made their terms known for ending the war, are readying to fire a heavier barrage of missiles after declaring their intended goal of diminishing US air defences was a success, want US ground troops to go fight them.
