It's also only temporary because they *can't* truly end them. An executive order can't override funds allocated by Congress. All he can do is pause it while the blizzard of lawsuits works its way out.

Reject enshittification, become a maker.

Trying to conquer Canada would be an insane mistake.
We need to overhaul the DNC. Do what the Tea Party did in the GOP, but on the other side of the Overton Window.
28.01.2025 14:52 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Better idea: we send the Christofascists there to build their "pure society" free of any interference from the faint of "sin and degeneracy." Send the billionaires, too.
Then we fix this planet without their bullshit.
Why the hell is this even a concern in Missouri? Missouri isn't a border state. It's several hundred miles from the border. These people are as stupid as they are racist.
28.01.2025 14:47 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0With the H1-B visa discourse, it's quickly become clear there are three major blocs within the GOP:
The nativists, who blame globalism for our economic woes.
The zealots, who want a racially pure theocracy.
The grifters, who see the others as pawns to deregulate everything for their own profit.
Why would folks judge? Sex work is real work, Christmas time or not.
11.12.2024 19:45 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Y'know, now that we know who shot the CEO of UHC, President Biden has the opportunity to do just the funniest thing.
Still got pardon authority for another two months. Just saying...
Exactly. There are thousands of new bots every day. Eventually, we'll probably have to establish independent professional block-list curator cadres with rules and appeals processes and transparency. But right now we're just trying to stem the tide of bots so we don't become another Twitter.
06.12.2024 19:34 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Those are two entirely different people, and the backpack is different from the one the shooter was wearing. Neither of these people is the shooter. NYPD is either desperate, stupid, or lying.
05.12.2024 20:23 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0We have to be careful, and no system is perfect. Block lists are a powerful countermeasure to bot swarms, though, and over time we'll get better at curating and vetting them.
05.12.2024 16:07 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I love the block lists. They're essentially a community immune system.
05.12.2024 14:32 โ ๐ 88 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 1Yup. The bots follow each other so that they can descend as a swarm.

05.12.2024 02:01 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0No. She's perfect Team Trump material: unqualified, unelectable, and therefore utterly dependent on Trump.
05.12.2024 01:18 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Fair enough. The core point is that the closer we got to Election Day, the more it seemed like the Dems were more worried about what Fox might say mean things about than what their own base wanted. It made them look like they didn't really have a plan at all, and that turned a lot of people off.
02.12.2024 15:23 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Pardoning Hunter wasn't hypocrisy, no matter what the fascists say. It was a (overdue) recognition of reality.
The justice system is not apolitical, if it ever was (I have my doubts.) We can either play the hand we're dealt, or let the Republicans win because we're too "pure" to fight.
Backpedaling on issues like gun control, police reform, queer rights, and fracking.
Promising to appoint a Republican to the Cabinet.
Continuing to support Israel unequivocally.
Not leaning into more aggressive plans to combat inflation and poverty.
Nothing. That's why every time we listen to the "step away from Progressivism" people, we lose badly. Case in point, this latest election.
Where did we win? Ballot measures supporting progressive issues like abortion.
Where did we lose? Elections where we ran to the middle.
He's not "bending the knee." He's salvaging something useful from this disaster.
Pentagon spending has usually been protected by the GOP. Using DOGE to achieve what's been a progressive goal for decades would be both clever and amusingly ironic.
The problem is that a lot of what the Trumpublicans believe is fundamentally incompatible with basic human decency, which makes polite debate difficult.
How do you politely debate someone whose guiding principle is "human rights don't matter"?
Some people were genuinely shocked that he's embraced Project 2025 after disavowing it during the election.
I truly cannot imagine how they could have believed him.
Want to know why we lost the election? It's not because we were "too woke." It's the opposite, in a way.
The actual Nazis said we were "woke," and the DNC obediently yanked out their own spines. By the end, Harris was basically running as Diet Republican.
Of course we lost.
I think McMahon is only wildly unqualified.
