I liked when James Baxter used to do occasional guest spots on animated TV shows. I assume studios had a bat signal for him, except instead of a static bat it was a horse running in perspective towards the camera while the camera rotated around it

probably fine that media is increasingly just people with established careers bringing their friends onto their underfunded reader-supported projects. we don't need to train new talent, there are so many people who want to do the work and the substack combat pits will weed out the weak

I dropped a poster tube in the #sdcc exhibit hall trying to get a signature. The poster inside has 2 dozen autographs collected at events in multiple states and countries. The tube has a name and address on it, it’s easy to id; but I’m devastated, I feel like such an idiot. #sdcclostandfound

I feel like smartphones where the last consumer gadget that actually improved the average person's life in a measurable way. Ever since then tech companies have been creating new problems in order to have a solution to sell.
