Are in planning to be in North Vancouver tomorrow night? So am I! I'll be giving a talk and showing off some photos from my new book Beneath Dark Waters: The Legacy of the Empress of Ireland Shipwreck. It's at Lynn Valley Library on Lynn Valley Road at 6:30 pm evelazarus.com/book/beneath...
30.09.2025 19:33 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I'm old. Us old people write blog posts.
Here's one I posted recently about creativity, learning, and art residencies: www.lisabrideau.com/post/writing...
Bookscan data has only existed for about 20 years. Prior to that actual sales of any given title was not something anyone with a subscription could look up and base decisions on. So thats relatively new.
27.09.2025 20:17 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Potluck has been a regular caterer of events in my life in Vancouver - if you can support this amazing social enterprise, please do! And a friendly reminder that if you organize catering for your org/event, find a social enterprise or Indigenous company to direct your $$ to.
26.09.2025 22:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oof, this article, so much truth about publishing challenges that exist today. This is a must read. thewalrus.ca/the-publishi...
26.09.2025 22:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0WHOA.
I am never going in the ocean again.
So rude, this truth. I protest.
24.09.2025 03:40 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oh god, I just flashed back to early internet bulletin boards
23.09.2025 19:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Who was this person who scheduled me for three back to back meetings today including an important 2hr workshop???? Rude! (It was me)
22.09.2025 22:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Omg the fact that this was an interview question is so gross. π
22.09.2025 22:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The whole experience was unreal, everyone was so kind! readjusting to real life is hard (I have to.... cook?).

20.09.2025 05:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0you ask awkward questions π
17.09.2025 22:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I had a momentary realization during my reading that perhaps I was also writing horror. Which can't possibly be true because I am a scaredy cat.
17.09.2025 20:40 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Got on stage last night and read the opening of the novel I'm currently working on. And realized mid-read that it's kind of gory. (By "kind of", I mean "very".) Fortunately, there is a lot of crossover between sci-fi and horror so the audience wasn't traumatized (I don't think).
17.09.2025 18:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0They must have an established protocol for fountain pen incidents here, surely? π
17.09.2025 18:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0event poster with photos of Rose Sutherland (white woman with long very curly brown hair) and Lisa Brideau (white woman with short straight brown hair) and their books: A Sweet Sting of Salt and Adrift.
The book signing event is a two for one deal: me and another Dartmouth High alumni, Rose Sutherland @sutherrose.bsky.social - fun fact, we had the same creative writing teacher!
Come hang out with us both 1-3pm on Sat. Oct 11 at Indigo (Chapters) Dartmouth at MicMacMall
I'll be in Halifax/Dartmouth in Oct for the first time since my debut novel came out!
-> I'd love to meet folks & talk about climate fiction, climate reality, writing, amnesia, all the things!
Oct 8: Library book club, Oct 9: Halifax Gals & Pals book club, Oct 11: book signing at Indigo Dartmouth!

15.09.2025 17:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm still made Jane Austen died as young as she did - I WANT MORE JANE STORIES! Ditto all the Brontes.
15.09.2025 15:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0How did I miss this?!??
15.09.2025 15:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I also got the shot recently as I needed documentation and wanted to be sure I was covered. I didn't have any reaction at all. Good luck! Stay safe out there!
06.09.2025 05:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'll be in Halifax/Dartmouth in October - my first time home since my book was published! I have 1 day left where I could fit in a book club meeting if anyone is part of a club that wants to read Adrift & have me pop by. Send me a message/email by Sept 25th if this might be your book club!
03.09.2025 21:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0100% - gotta put stuff out and see what happens! I particularly enjoy shooting for things that part of me thinks are way out of my league because sometimes I'm wrong and amazing things happen. :)
03.09.2025 05:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0it's a story that explores what can happen when we myopically focus on getting just one thing perfectly right without paying attention to the whole. How wrong can things go when you're about to get something incandescently right? The story is here: DiabolicalPlots.com ENJOY! (3/?)
