The Alberta government thinks the Historical Society of Alberta and the Alberta Genealogical Society aren't Provincial Heritage Organizations and cutting their funding. How are these organizations *not* heritage organizations?

I don't give a damn that it was a "procedural" vote as described in the article. Procedure does not come before basic human rights and it does not absolve the opposition from voting in principle for a bigoted bill that would abolish the Human Rights Code.

Did the mistakes involve using AI? They sure did.

At a Goldeneyes game and on the jumbo screen an audience member was asked “name a famous athlete” and the person said “Messier” and the crowd booed and I truly love how we’ve held onto this very legitimate grievance for 25 years

Nick Fuentes is an outspoken white nationalist who has railed about "organized Jewry," denied the Holocaust, praised Hitler, and promoted the racist "great replacement theory" that inspired several mass shootings, but to this College Republican, he's just a funny and thoughtful role model.

It's how I've had to get out of bed every winter during standard time. I'm thrilled to be getting the extra daylight later in the day from now on.

I'm no fancy political consultant, but, hey, if you're in Dem comms, you should notice that Fox News panicked over Trump wearing a cheap Trump merch baseball cap to receive the bodies of soldiers he got killed for no reason he can articulate, and you should absolutely lean into that.

Venezuela, Iran, Cuba, Greenland, Canada, and on and on and on. Lindsey Graham says they are “marching through the world.”
They don’t care how many US soldiers they get killed. Meanwhile, they’re building concentration camps at home for Americans to die in. What will it take for people to wake up?

Collage of portraits and historical photographs featuring several women arranged against a light background. At the upper left is a pencil portrait of Charlotte Small with braided hair and a headscarf. To the upper right are smaller portraits including Barbara Frum speaking into a radio microphone and Maud Abbott in an academic gown. In the center are colour and black-and-white portraits of Michelle Douglas in a Canadian Armed Forces uniform and Judy LaMarsh wearing glasses and a pearl necklace. Along the lower section are Carrie Best reading a newspaper titled “The Clarion,” Kim Campbell wearing medals in a formal portrait, Hide Hyodo Shimizu teaching two children in front of a chalkboard reading “Hastings Park,” and Bobbie Rosenfeld seated with medals and a trophy. On the right side is a large image of Mary Two-Axe Earley gesturing while speaking, wearing glasses and a large pendant necklace. A faint “Canadian History Ehx” logo appears near the center of the collage.

It is International Women's Day.
There have been many, many amazing women who have shaped Canada's history.
I have chosen to feature ten of those women.
These are their amazing stories.

A vintage hockey programme cover titled “Official Programme – NHL Forum.” At the centre, an illustration shows two hockey players skating toward a puck, one wearing a dark uniform with an “M” on the chest and the other in a red Montreal Canadiens sweater with a blue stripe and the “C” logo. Both players lean forward with their sticks extended as they compete for the puck on the ice. The text indicates the 1933–1934 season and lists the matchup “Chicago vs Montreal” for the Stanley Cup play-down, dated Wednesday, March 28th, 1934. A price of 5¢ is printed in the corner.

The Montreal Maroons only existed for 14 seasons but in that time they helped reshape the NHL, won two Stanley Cups and had 11 players and five coaches enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
This is the story of Montreal's other NHL team.

Democrats may not be able to prevent Mullin's confirmation, but they can certainly turn his track record of offense and stupidity into two days of televised humiliation so spectacular that he is wounded in Trump's eyes from day 1. That is the job.

This is what weak and insecure people think confidence looks like: buffoonish bluster and swagger, like a 12-year-old bully. It doesn‘t inspire trust or security. It inspires grave concern for the lives of the people serving our nation whose fate is in the hands of these overcompensating oafs.

The Hockey Night In Canada Theme YouTube video by Canadian History Ehx

From 1968 to 2008, The Hockey Night in Canada Song, or The Hockey Theme, became Canada's unofficial second national anthem. Many Canadians can sing it, and hearing it is a big dose of nostalgia.
