Space-Age Wrangler

After about a year dabbling in pixelart, towards the end of 2020 I decided to attempt to recreate the main menu from #Cyberpunk2077 in #pixelart
A lot of work and organizing (didn't have Aseprite at the time) and I was very much out of my depth.
Learnt a lot of valuable lessons from it.

An expressionist pixel art drawing of a person coming out of a shower drying themselves with a towel. The towel is covering up their face and most of their body. The floor is covered in rippling water.

I estimate this new drawing makes up about 30% of worldwide pixel art expressionism production this year.

If you can find any expressionists at all on bsky send them my way, because I searched and found maybe 3 people.

Painting of the same woman. She now looks appropriately older. From profile again, although we can see she's turning her head to the left, as indicated by the shoulder. Eyes closed this time. Roughly the same palette was used, turquoise and yellows for highlights and lighter areas, some whites were used too and bluew black and red for darker areas.

The two paintings from tonight. 20 min on the left, 45 on the right. Still acrylics on 50*65 cm paper.

Front view of the print. Lizard sitting on the pipe on top. I want to make the lizard's face details a bit more defined, and fix the legs. Some layer lines are visible on the horizontal walls, though I'll do the final print with smaller layers and a bit slower. Did not realise the slight incline on the roof would create those steps. Sanding helps hide them but I might also be able to incorporate them into the design. The small pipes are a mess and hard to sand, I'll make them a bit bigger and reduce the angle of the connectors on top. Adding some rain world style texturing to them will probably help a lot too. I'm happy with how the vent on the wall came out. Looks super clean when looking at it IRL.

Back view of the print. Bottom side is pretty plain for now, I'll add stuff like rubble and maybe vegetation. The lizard's tail has a bit of a strange shape where it wraps around the big pipe, I'll need to redo it. The square scaffolding around the big pipe on the right turned out a lot better than the round supports in the center, even though they're similar sizes. I guess it's just easier to print straight lines.

Some sketches I did to design the model. It takes up 4x4x~5cm. Don't have much experience with Blender. I did a lot of stuff wrong when modelling but remesh + decimate will bury my sins.

Been working on my first 3D print. It's a Rain World lizard.

Did a test print with the main elements. Mainly need to fix the small pipes and improve the lizard, then I want to add more detail and textures.

Tried sanding it after, to hide the seams. The final plan is to paint it.

Thanks! That's from early last year, was inspired a bit by the painter Joan Ponç and the pixel artist Jumpanaatta.

Unfortunately got really burnt out on that style after doing 3 or 4 of those, they are a slog to draw, so I haven't done it in a while. I suppose it's just a matter of time though.
