A nicely written article, and I agree that museums must reach younger generations. But unfortunately the renovated exhibits at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History mask the fact that the museum has gutted a large part of their research on the natural world over the last few years.

Thank you for publishing this. I've been waiting for it to come to light for 5 years, as well as other former staff and scientists, but everyone has been scared by leadership. It's a horribly toxic environment and if the board is smart, they'll get rid of Winner and start fresh.

Cleveland Museum of Natural History Staff Plan to Unionize Amid Claims of Toxic Work Environment
Behind the glitz of the $150-million expansion lies a dysfunctional and hostile culture for employees, some say, with 70% of staff recently signing union cards
Finally seeing reporting on the toxic work environment going on at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. It's been so sad to see this place fall apart.
Let it be a lesson to all scientific and cultural institutions, NEVER put a business person in charge.
