My column on page two of the Sun-Times today.

Now that I think of it, I should have headlined it, "Vote while you still can."

"What’s our excuse today for not voting? How do we so casually discard the right for which so many fought? How do we so fully give away our power, our voice, in shaping America’s future? Why are we pointing to somebody else when we could...? We give away our power."

Yes, he left off the "but he was lying" part of Trump's various policy stands. Rangel could have said it more succinctly as, "He appealed to haters, a quality which, alas, Latinos are not immune."

Those 175 schoolkids weren't bad people. To me it's kind of a tautology. They become bad people because we kill them; otherwise we wouldn't, because we're the good guys. That premise is getting strained lately.

Tomorrow is March 12, and you know what that means: Kumamon's birthday. Celebrate responsibility. One of the strangest stories I've ever done, back when you could tell a web site, "I really don't have to go to Japan to write this," and they'd say "No, go."

That's true. Though the Nazis stayed fairly well down. Standing up to aggression is important. The futility of it, well, most everything is futile in the long run. As for Iran being "a perceived monstrous adversary," it is an abso-fucking-lutely monstrous adversary. Don't drink the Kool-Aid here.

I'd never say any war was "a good thing." But it's happening, and how one reacts to it depends on what you thought of the Oct. 7 attacks, which Iran instigated, and caused, what, 80,000 deaths so far? To the degree the war prevents Iran from doing that kind of shit in the future, it's not w/o value.

Jews are sometimes accused of dual loyalty regarding Israel. But anyone softening on Trump because of the ass-whupping being delivered to Iran is an idiot. He's still a liar, bully, fraud and traitor who, in his daily thrashings, occasionally does a good thing. He got rid of the penny too. Bravo.
