Great discussion! Interesting overview of the articulation of Open Science incentives between the European/ national/ funder/ insitutional/ library levels. I love the "Lorraine policy": instead of telling people to do Open Science, the policy is "If you want to do things, come to us, ask for help".

It really was a pleasure to present the "Lorraine model" together with @fresseng.fediscience.org.ap.brid.gy

Happy to share our experience of moving away from "big deals" and of funding instead jobs, diamond journals as well as open infrastructures!

AI deals underscore importance of open access (opinion) For those feeling queasy about academic publishers’ AI deals, Günter Waibel and Dave Hansen argue the way forward is not more restrictive licenses—it’s open access.

Good article on the consumption of scholarly articles by LLMs and how authors should think about this w/r/t open access. But it doesn't make the explicit point that CC BY NC ND (considered an OA license in most circles) could end up being a pitfall. 🧵
