Devanshi kindly sent us some feedback after the event, which she agreed to us sharing:
"I feel deeply privileged to be the winner of this competition, and I hope this event is able to continue and possibly even expand through future years."

Congratulations also to our winners, Eva Bowen and Devanshi Sinha (pictured above left to right, alongside Lord Stephens and his judicial assistant, Amy Kerr) and to our other finalists, Autumn Burke and Adam Haque.
02.06.2025 10:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Last month social mobility charity, BVL held its 2025 Mooting Competition final at the UK Supreme Court.

26.01.2025 13:52 β π 25 π 21 π¬ 2 π 0This is a fantastic project. We were so impressed by the students' hard work and dedication, and some of them spoke with such confidence and aplomb - definitely future KC or MP material! Proud to support.

19.01.2025 10:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Finally, with thanks to @iclr.bsky.social for kindly partnering with us & publishing the report, I'm pleased to say that you can now read it online here: www.bvl.org.uk/publications. It's full of the students' brilliant ideas on Reproductive Rights, Sports Law, Electoral Law and Protest Law (10/10)

18.01.2025 20:31 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 1 π 02025 has the potential to be another great year for the charity. We've got a great team & big plans. There is so much we want to do, e.g. we received 500+ applications for the Model Law Commission in 2024, so it would be amazing to offer more places this yr. But funding is key (8/10)
18.01.2025 20:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Of course, we also couldn't do it without the help of an amazing team of volunteers (the whole charity is volunteer led!), guest speakers, and again in 2024 - for the 8th yr in a row - we had artist, Isobel Williams & graphic designer, Peter Sloper, designing the cover of the report (7/10)
18.01.2025 20:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This project doesn't happen by magic. In 2024 we were lucky to have the support of BCL Solicitors. BVL was their charity of the yr & that support enabled us to lift the cap we had in place on the no. of students who could take part from outside of London (due to travel+accommodation costs) (6/10)
18.01.2025 20:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0These are not school run events
The MLC is something these young people apply for & gain a place on entirely independently. They work hard for three months, learning the law & coming up with their ideas. Anyone who thinks young people don't work hard needs to meet this group and think again (5/10)
BVL and the Model Law Commission are a small piece of the solution to that problem. The projects we run help to give young people an opportunity to learn about law, meet lawyers and get vital information to guide their journey into the profession (4/10)
18.01.2025 20:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Why is this important? Because 65% of UK senior judges and 53% of partners at leading law firms attended fee paying schools, despite only 6% of the UK population attending them. So there is more to be done, to ensure the law is accessible to everyone, regardless of background (3/10)
18.01.2025 20:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This event in Westminster is always the highlight of the BVL year.
It's incredible to watch 80+ young people from non-fee paying schools across the country present their ideas on law reform and to see them become inspired to pursue legal careers (2/10)
This week we wrapped up social mobility charity, BVL's 12th annual Model Law Commission report launch. A huge thank you to @teamlabouruk.bsky.social's Catherine Atkinson MP for hosting the event at Portcullis House in Westminster and for your inspiring opening speech (1/10)
