Big news, since a recent study showed that amphib conservation is serially underfunded. The TLDR of this are calls for:
-updated conservation guidelines
-govts to implement long term national plans
-funding research
In biblical times, frogs were seen as a plague
Today, thanks to new research, we know theyβre actually guardians against disease 1/5

Shared our work on polyploidy and sex chromosome evolution in Australian burrowing frogs Neobatrachus.
Exciting discussions on autopolyploids vs allopolyploids and their inheritance patterns!

Off to AES 2025 in Brisbane to talk Neobatrachus! Records suggest both tetraploids can show up in Queensland. After three years with their specimens in Germany, the idea of seeing them in person feels a bit like meeting long-distance friends IRL πΈ #Neobatrachus #amphibian #museomics

Today, besides my family, my supervisor sent me wishes. It may seem like a small gesture, but it carries a lot of warmth when you are far far from home. Moments like this remind me that a good PhD is not only about research, but also about mentorship, kindness, and growing together #birthday

The poster features 176 species of frog from Madagascar, to scale. The biggest species are over 100 mm, the smallest are under 10 mm. They come in all kinds of shapes and sizes and colours. So many variations on the theme of frog!
Thrilled to announce version 2.0 of my poster featuring some of Madagascar's endemic frog species, to scale! This version features 176 speciesβ40 more than version 1.1 (now retired)! Check it out!

Many amphibians have large genomes, and some are polyploid. Chen et al. (2025) ask how polyploidy affects organismal physiology in a unique population of Microhyla fissipes, which has individuals with diploid and tetraploid genomes. Read more of this #AWNews at AmphibiaWeb.org.
