Another bird down. This WT Rye SiB was quite good, though with its price north of the standard Russellβs Reserve Rye SiB and the quality being on par, I donβt see the incentive to pay more. I was glad to enjoy this, though, no question. Cheers!

Westward keeps churning out the hits. I recently finished a bottle of the excellent Trinity of Casks release, so I cracked this Acacia Cask Finished release. All the familiar Westward notes I love, slightly darker and accented by a mouthwatering tanginess from a zingy grapefruit zest note. Cheers!

New notes comparing OLD CHARTER FRENCH OAK + K&L EVERY DROP 15 YEAR. Tap that π for deets on these unique cousins brought together for the first time. Cheers!

Every Election Day after I vote I get breakfast at a good olβ fashioned American diner. Look at the coffee mug they gave me. Itβs like they know meβ¦!

This Ardbeg Smokiverse is a sunny seaside dram. Perfect for sipping under a blue autumn sky at golden hour. SlΓ‘inte!

A true departure for the Hotaling & Co Hirsch lineβan in-house distilled single malt whiskey made from 100% barley. Their Old Potrero is also a single malt, but distilled from rye. Canβt wait to taste what happens when barley is given the Hirsch / Old Potrero / Hotalingβs touch. Cheers!

Proper notes to come. But out of the gate I like this. Itβs a 10-barrel small batch blend of 7-year Wild Turkey bourbon, bottled at 107 proof. Comes across like a more sparkly, spicy Wild Turkey 101 8 Year. Cheers!

I picked up this mini premixed cocktail bottle in Berlin this past August. Finally got around to giving it a go. A delightful, tasty, sweet and citric cocktail. And nice to have something on hand thatβs made in Berlin, still my favorite city on the planet. Prost!
π₯
Almost at the end of this one. A solid old fashioned bourbon. If it becomes readily available and the price drops a notch, I could see it being a regular on my home shelf. Cheers!
π₯
Lookinβ forward to this! Of course K&L canβt name the source outright. But they drop enough hints on the label for us to know this is a small batch blend of 7-year Wild Turkey, bottled at a hearty 107 proofβa nod to the distilleryβs original entry proof. Cheers!

Had an old friend over I hadnβt seen in years. Took us a few pours to catch up! π₯
29.10.2025 14:14 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Attended a Single Malt Whisky Society tasting arranged by the SF Whiskey Society at Oakland Whiskey Library, tucked up above The Legionnaire Saloon. Great people and a great flight of 6 whiskeys, from American ryes to nearly every scotch region. Took my senses for a wild ride! SlΓ‘inte!

This stuff is as good as it looks. Lemony, smoky, earthy, fruity, caramelly. SlΓ‘inte!

Like Eagle Rare, only spicier and pricier. Cheers!

Still enjoying this 2023 Little Book Chapter 7. A blend of 4-to-18 year bourbon, rye, and malt whiskeys, it takes the classic Beam / Booker notes in a wonderfully nuanced direction. Cheers!

This simultaneously powerful and calming Oloroso Sherry bomb of a single malt from Edradour continues to hit the spot. SlΓ‘inte!

Itβs called Dry Night, not Boring Night. See the second πΈ for this simple NA Highball recipe. A fancy vintage glass also helps. Cheers!

Ending the week with this High West Rendezvous Rye from 2016, when they were still stirring some 16-year Barton into the mix. They donβt makeβm like this anymoreβliterally. Cheers!
π₯
Cracked open this K&L Faultline release dubbed βThe Huntley,β their code name for Balvenie. They must label it a βblendβ because a teaspoon of something else was added. But really itβs Balvenie single malt, aged 25 years, bottled at cask strength and with no added nonsense. Yes please. Cheers!

When I find myself in the vicinity of The Old Clam House, I canβt resist paying the olβ joint a visit. Opened in 1861 on what was then the outskirts of San Francisco, theyβre still serving up that same comforting clam chowder. And paired with a pour of Ardbeg Ten? Perfection. Cheers!

New notes on TWO WESTWARD SINGLE MALTS: MILESTONE NO.3 & TRINITY OF CASKS. Tap that π for deets on these exceptional well-aged releases from that great distiller of American single malts in Portland, OR. Cheers!

Proper notes to come. But out of the gate Iβll say this is a goodβn for sureβrye and oak spice, caramel and chocolate, coffee and cream. Cheers!

Ending the week with the end of this Austin Nichols labelled Wild Turkey 101 from 2013. Not a βdustyβ by some standards but perhaps βdusty adjacent.β π Nice to have had the old label in the house anyway. And the bourbon was good too! Cheers!

Getting toward the end of this BenRiach 23 Year and enjoying it more and more. Sweet and oaky, lively and mellow. Perfect for the cool, sunny autumn weather. SlΓ‘inte!

I loved the 8 Year. I really liked the 9 Year. Looking forward to how this new 10 Year Sagamore Rye follows up. Cheers!
π₯
What a pour to bring me back to whiskey after my dry week! The price point is unfortunate, and the elaborate box wasteful. But Westwardβs Milestone No.3 is an exceptional American single malt whiskey. Mocha, cream, chocolate, fruity nutty barley, oak. Good stuff. Cheers!
