Social skepticism is toxic. Around me, people volunteer, and itβs a better world than the one where everyone assumes hidden interests.
The exhibition in Lviv? Only printing costs. The playwriting course for veterans? Also volunteer.
Do the work.
In Balakun thereβs a question: βHow did you hear about us?β

That just means many students learned about the project from me. Iβm not paid. Itβs fully volunteer developers, admins, 2,000 mentors, all unpaid.
Same with Leleka. I support because I choose to.
Today marks four years since the official creation of my home battalion.
Happy anniversary, my big, strange, and wonderful family!
Today, ornithologist Hanna Kuzio and I are opening our exhibition. Through art, we speak about empathy and the connections between sparrows, which are disappearing in modern cities, and homeless women.
Join us at 6:00 PM in Lviv at the Center for Urban Mobility, 24 Bandera Street.
Today I will speak about Ukraine at NYU Prague.
The discussion, βCulture during Wartime,β marks the 4th anniversary of the full-scale russian invasion. We will talk about how culture documents war.

The World of Post-Empathy

Ukraine has intelligence indicating that the Russian Federation intends to continue carrying out similar terror.
Twenty-five people were injured and one person was killed.
The perpetrators were recruited via Telegram, and the organisation behind the attack is Russian
During a nighttime terrorist attack in Lviv, police officer Viktoriia Shpylka was killed. She was only 23.
Last autumn she married a patrol officer. They served together and were dreaming about their future.
This is police officer Viktoriia Shpylka. She was killed during a nighttime terrorist attack in Lviv. She will forever be 23.

Another night attack by russians across Ukraine.
Drones and missiles moved from the north and east toward central and southern regions. Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa were under threat.
Right now, russians are striking my city, Kyiv, with missiles and drones. Other Ukrainian cities are under attack as well.
This is what our night looks like.
We invite you to the photo exhibition βConnectedβ at the Lviv Centre for Urban Mobility space.
This exhibition brings together documentary photography and scientific data to ask: what happens to living beings when social bonds are torn apart?

βMenstruationβ β Performance of the Year!
Today we received the Black Lotus award.
I am incredibly proud that we gave these women a voice. This performance is about hidden and uncomfortable female experiences during the war. Two of the five protagonists are sex workers.
Yesterday in Stockholm, there was a performance based on my text βMilitary Mamaβ at the Royal Dramatic Theatre, Dramaten. The text is about combat medics, and afterwards I had the chance to speak to the audience about their work and ask them to donate to the Leleka Foundation.

Among the requirements were C1 English and about a million years of communications experience, so I applied with zero expectations, just so I would not regret not trying.
So here it is

It is always worth trying.
I had my interview for a fellowship at the train station. The train was supposed to depart, but it was delayed, so I was telling a very serious Polish-German committee about Ukrainian resilience while boarding the carriage, and the conductor was scanning my ticket from my phone at the same time.

Maybe my face looks this way because I am an old woman living in difficult times. I have no optimism, but I do have people. Right now, the most recent contacts in my messenger, are all people who sacrifice their own interests for others.
We are shaped by our time. Not cheerful, but full of stories.
We want to speak with Europeans in the language of art. Let this discussion remind artists that their task is to toughen people and to save them.
I did not sleep today and spent seven hours at the border just to fly to Stockholm. Only for one day, then I have to return to Ukraine
I asked AI what kind of plastic surgery I should get so my face would not look so sad.
It said I should smile more and stop being sad.
Tomorrow, my text will be performed for the first time on the stage of a national theatre in Stockholm. It is a story about Ukrainian combat medics.
In the news they write that Mark Rutte saw in Patron the dogβs eyes that we will not surrender.
Iβm ready to offer my cat for state purposes. In her eyes it says: βGive us more air defense!!!β
Ukrainians have almost made it through the winter, and this gives people a sense of optimism.

Just now, a homeless man was sitting next to me in a Kyiv metro carriage, learning German words from a squared notebook. The words were written in a neat column, in beautiful handwriting, underlined with colored pens.

Two one-year-old boys and a two-year-old girl were killed overnight in an enemy strike on the town of Bohodukhiv.
A 34-year-old man who was with the children in the private house also died from his injuries.
In just one week, two premieres of performances based on my texts will take place in Lviv:
February 19 - Maria Zankovetska Theatre
February 20 - Les Kurbas Theatre.
I made it to the 2nd round of selection for an international program. The interview was supposed to start two minutes before my train, but it was delayed, so I had to answer and show ticket to the conductor at the same time.
Iβm not sure whether this affected my explanation of Ukrainian resilience.
