“Menstruation” – Performance of the Year!
Today we received the Black Lotus award.

I am incredibly proud that we gave these women a voice. This performance is about hidden and uncomfortable female experiences during the war. Two of the five protagonists are sex workers.

Yesterday in Stockholm, there was a performance based on my text “Military Mama” at the Royal Dramatic Theatre, Dramaten. The text is about combat medics, and afterwards I had the chance to speak to the audience about their work and ask them to donate to the Leleka Foundation.

Among the requirements were C1 English and about a million years of communications experience, so I applied with zero expectations, just so I would not regret not trying.

It is always worth trying.

I had my interview for a fellowship at the train station. The train was supposed to depart, but it was delayed, so I was telling a very serious Polish-German committee about Ukrainian resilience while boarding the carriage, and the conductor was scanning my ticket from my phone at the same time.

Maybe my face looks this way because I am an old woman living in difficult times. I have no optimism, but I do have people. Right now, the most recent contacts in my messenger, are all people who sacrifice their own interests for others.

We are shaped by our time. Not cheerful, but full of stories.

We want to speak with Europeans in the language of art. Let this discussion remind artists that their task is to toughen people and to save them.

I did not sleep today and spent seven hours at the border just to fly to Stockholm. Only for one day, then I have to return to Ukraine
