TBH, the Internet was the best in the 2000's and early 2010's. The enshittification of the Internet actually opened with the Google+ integration for YouTube comments in 2013, and later in 2020 with the ''Eclipse'' layout for deviantART, but that wasn't anything yet. I'll mention it in the next post.

2 years since starting my deviantart account, I started my mega-crossover fanseries with IRL conspiracy theories slapped onto to make at least some of it's sci-fi and supernatural elements authentic and my goto way of having social commentaries 1/3

YEAH god the old DA feed was great you wouldnt miss a thing with it, i really really dislike the time line feeds i miss out on so much stuff, and none of the add ons even work cuz theres still stuff that wont show up, shit SUCKS for artists online, fuck whoever invented those stupid algorithms 😭

As someone who used DA as early as 2012, I agree.
Eclipse was basically the current layout the heads of DA rolled out despite a lot of folks rallying against it. While I personally didn't mind it that much, wasn't a fan of them getting rid of the chats, though.
The AI content now isn't helping...

I recently unsubscribed from the YouTube channel of a certain independent documentary film company specializing in monster documentaries because I could no longer overlook their use of AI clips in their productions.

Maybe ask animators? Me for instance? I can't use AI Gen to "enhance" my work. The resulting "images that go together to give the illusion of movement" couldn't be protected by © and have no actual licensing value. AIGen is the genuinely the stupidest invention for a problem that never existed.

youtube should stop telling people what to do and stop trying to push ai and put good videos on the default home page and change how copyright works and give me 300 thousand dollars in cash

If you look at the recent lawsuits filed against AI companies, copyright infringement is a huge problem. AI companies will need to figure out a way around this. The same way YouTube needed to when they were purchased by Google.

I'm violating their guidelines they say, my content is age restricted they say. Copyright this copyright that. YouTube really hates fun more than ever. You can't even say fuck without YouTube breathing down your neck. It even sucks ass trying to watch content with the AI ads and content slop.

I just watched a charlie video, and apparently a person got terminated for being "associated" to another channel that got copyright striked 3 times (his channel isn't related to that channel at all) And this was done all by AI. Youtube is cooked i swear

Youtube's broken copyright policies are root of the dead internet theory

Although it's a stretch, I anticipate some copyright troll making the argument that coming up with the prompts to feed the AI, iterative refining of the prompt and selection of a particular output are "creative acts" which is one of the tests that AI has so far failed to pass in court.

It can make people can't do fananimations with their favorite characters(even when it's completely drawn from scratch) fir absolutely anything

It doesn’t do it on all of them, but it will randomly mute the music, but leave the vocals, so it’s like listening to it under water. It’s especially bad on BTS Guide videos. I have seen so many people become ARMY after watching these guides, myself included.

YouTube AI copyright moderation is ruining reaction videos. I don’t think labels and artists understand how important these videos can be to get new music in the hands of consumers. It’s the primary way I discover new music, but so many of these videos are now unwatchable.

Thanks for your report to YouTube. We aren't going to do anything about it but it's a nice distraction for the AI while it's taking a break from making false copyright claims.

I've been thinking it since shortly after Oct 7, but seeing videos like this is fuel for Nazis. Israel's ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people is making them far more unsafe.
