Like if the remakes never came out, I'd say maybe? But since they did, they pushed Ashley and Leon's bond way more and distanced him from Ada. I also think marrying a president's daughter got modern Leon to the position he's now in.

I dont even feel that Capcom considers that important/canon anymore.
