One on one tank battles weren’t common in WW2 and the Tiger was bad at them because it broke down so much.

Also Germany couldn’t get good enough metal for their armor.

The Sherman was pretty reliable as far as WW2 tanks went. It turns out having your tank be able to make it to the fight matters.
