Google maps has been so useful for years. Now, whenever you search for directions to a place it decides to send you to visit one of its sponsors instead. Absolutely infuriating. If you don't check carefully you could waste a lot of travel time. They've made the app unusable.

Walk 31 Miles in October for Pancreatic Cancer UK Help Jenny Edwards raise money to support Pancreatic Cancer UK

I don't normally do fundraising on here but this charity is working on a particularly aggressive form of cancer, very often diagnosed late. Here is a link to my Gofundme page for walking for Pancreatic Cancer UK during October.

πŸ§½πŸ’§πŸƒ 🌳🐸 Have you heard of a β€˜sponge city’?πŸ§½πŸ’§πŸƒ 🌳🐸

🧼A sponge city is one better designed to absorb and hold rainwater, managing flood risks, sewage and road run-off pollution with green solutions instead of relying solely on drains. πŸ§Όβ¬‡οΈ

Indigenous and environmental leaders in Ecuador say they are facing state intimidation Critics say referendum on rewriting country’s eco-friendly constitution is president’s latest pro-extractivist move

International eyes needed on Ecuador rn, where an organised assault on constitutional integrity, land- & water-defenders, the rights of nature & Indigenous rights is currently in full swing, as directed by the newly elected president Noboa.

Why All Animals Are Sentient, and Machines Will Never Be Even the smallest sea slug feels pain. That means we have a responsibility not to inflict it.

An interesting piece on sentience. "Our society is so generous in considering the sentience of machines, yet so skeptical of other creatures. We sympathize with software that prints β€œI don’t want to die,” without bothering to learn the languages others use to make the same plea." #NatureConnection

Sick who go back to work end up in low-paid, physically tough jobs Only a tiny fraction of economically inactive find a job each year, and it is often an unsuitable role where they can only last a few months, research shows

"Pushing people into insecure, physical, inflexible work when they are already challenged by disability or mental health problems is futile. These jobs don’t work and they don’t last"

Wars & outbreaks end eventually.
Wounds heal.
Homes are rebuilt.

But the #Mentalhealth impact often goes unnoticed.

On #WorldMentalHealthDay, @who.int is drawing attention to mental health in emergencies.

Beyond food, water & medicine, people need mental health support to cope, recover & rebuild.
