3 second delay, no edits. The stars over my roof tonight. Time for bed
This reminds me of Thay talking about hungry ghosts
Thank you for the work you do Brother: you, the sangha and Thay. I am grateful
And its purpose would be to nourish physical and mental health of all, rather than fuel false division to allow some to hoard wealth
It wouldn’t test in prod, it wouldn’t spew half-baked unmindful speech online to vulnerable minds, its hallucinations wouldn’t be mindlessly inserted as citations into scientific articles, legal cases and counselling/medical transcripts
It would nourish wholesome real relationships with each other and the world, rather than dependency on illusions of intimacy with chat bots
If we reimagine AI as a tool of peace, how would it function? Protect the lives of people, animals, plants and minerals & use renewable energy sources. Avoid exploitation and oppression in ways it is created and used
Concepts such as non-duality and interbeing are crucial to relieve collective suffering, all of us, ours and *theirs*
Sometimes saying the obvious is radical. Bring them The Five Rememberances. AI-fascism is built on the false belief technobillionaires can escape suffering by hoarding knowledge, building fortresses, weapons, wealth. But there’s no pile of money big enough to escape the nature of being
I mean, other than “don’t build skynet” “don’t give your tech to the military” and “don’t turn the world into microchips and data centres”
This random monk had been invited to a small gathering of ai leaders (CEO / chief scientist level allegedly) for a conversation about ethics — what do i say?
If you have any deep thoughts, please help!
(I also have some thoughts, but collective intelligence is likely better than individual imho)
Musical movie singalong night. Take turns singing (if it can be called that) along to your favourite songs from musicals. So far we’ve had songs from ‘Cabaret’, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ and ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’. ‘Fame’ or ‘Hair’ will probably be next

My Iran friend has contacted me. They were able to get near the Iraq border and get internet.
Couple of things:
Iran red crescent is only official org allowed to support inside Iran.
Local NGOs are not.
Refugees now crossing over to Kurdistan and Iraq.
Bombing yes, few hurt
Taiwan: a warning from S Korea. They shut off their low skills worker program. Note part in blue.
Elections are underway in the Republic of Congo, and the government appears to have shut down the #Internet, as they did during 2016 and 2021 elections. Traffic disappeared at 05:30 UTC (06:30 local).

A sorry tale with a bad ending.
‘Nacc said it could not…prosecution, because of a lack of “admissible evidence”. The body noted that “key admissions & statements made during this investigation are not admissible in criminal proceedings”. #Robodebt

I cannot overstate how unprepared this administration has made us all to be able to respond to any kind of crisis.
This is the most basic kind of disaster response that there is and they fucked it up. When we have something much bigger, or complicated... SMH.

Donald Trump letting you know how the authoritarian capture of the media is going, in case you missed it. Unlike other authoritarians in places like Hungary and Poland he has no worries about advertising his authoritarian take over of the media.
If we made the green energy transition this war would be unthinkable and these authoritarians wouldn’t be in power — not in the US, not in Iran, not in Saudi Arabia, not in Russia. Hydrocarbons are killing our freedom and just plain killing us.
Are these deficits?
I can certainly see why current human society would frame them as such!
But I have another word for possessing & practicing less 'theory of mind';
Authenticity.

#Neurodivergent #ActuallyAutistic #ASD #Autism #AuDHD
- less herd mentality
- succumbing less to group persuasion
- preferring outcomes over intentions
- being less susceptible to advertising
- preferring lots of data over heuristics
- a strong sense of moral justice

Back to autistics.
People who haven't been focusing on social intrigue since infancy, but on other things.
It's clear they're going to be at a major disadvantage among other humans! Yikes 😳
But... is it a deficit?
Some of the qualities shown in autistics, such as:
👇
Sometimes, strangely, this concept is known as 'cognitive empathy' 🤨
Strangely because the word 'empathy' means 'feeling in'.
And psychopaths often have great mentalizing (or 'cognitive empathy') skills.
But with very little'pathos' - feeling - at all 🤷♀️

Autistic babies show less heavy attention bias towards other humans that babies generally do.
Our focus seems to have wandered to other things - light, nature, animals, objects, patterns... everything and anything!
Now let's turn to mentalizing. Theory of mind.
