We should be looking at:

- how society can STOP STIGMATISING AUTISM
- support and services that work for everyone
- how to improve autistic people’s quality of life
- reducing suicide rates (9x higher for autistic people)

The duality of "I'm neurodivergent" and "I'm lgbt+" but both literally cannot sit "correctly"

100%. I have been. And it sucks especially after so long, thinking they genuinely cared about me. Breaking out of that illusion after being under it my whole life is definitely an experience.

And thank you, it does make me feel a little better that I don't come off as clueless. Most days I feel like a chicken running around in a confused panic if that makes any sense LMAO

-therapy for. Very dysfunctional family overall, and some days it seems like my mother WANTS me to be independent, then switches up and wants me to be dependent. I can never tell with her, and for other reasons, I'm pretty confident she's dealing with delusions of grandeur. It's pretty exhausting.

I definitely wonder that, sometimes. My stepdad (my biological father unfortunately has been out of the picture since I was 8) doesn't seem to really care much at all, hasn't been a part of my education whatsoever. and my mother has a bunch of her own issues that I've been begging her to get into-

I'm hoping to leave my country too. The US as it currently stands is terrifying for multiple reasons and I've wanted to leave since I was 13. I'm hoping I'll be able to develop enough independence soon to be able to, but it's definitely taking a lot of work.

I've been homeschooled for as long as I can remember, with the exception of fourth grade in which I was put into a charter school. The social aspects of it weren't great, but education-wise I think that's the best I've done so far with schooling. Since then I kind of just hit a dead end.

-over schoolwork. Instead of getting me help, they "unschooled" me. Now I'm 20, haven't graduated, resentful, and trying my best to get the education and resources I need while being absolutely clueless, trying to become independent. It hurts thinking about other kids going through similar scenarios

Oh god. As a failed homeschool kid, it upsets me seeing those posts. My parents neglected my education. Just set me on khanacademy or time4learning and left it at that, didn't help me when I got confused. I'm autistic and have some learning disabilities, so I'd get anxious & fully shut down-

Yes!!! I use block lists, and block at my own discretion! That's the beauty of the internet. I'm allowed to curate my own space. This account is a safe space for me and my community. If you bother me, I'll just mute or block. It's to protect my peace, and frankly, it's much better this way.

Tone tags aren't necessary for every single interaction you might have with me, but if I get confused and ask you to clarify tone, please don't take it the wrong way! I'm just autistic and there literally is no inherent tone to pixels on a screen. So tone tags are greatly appreciated. :D

You may see me using tone tags (they look like /j or /sarc), and if you don't know what they are, you can google them pretty easily! There's a whole list of them, and I get that they can be confusing to those who haven't seen them before, but they often help me communicate and convey my tone.
