Big Oil Has Been Lying to Us for Decades: Don’t Let It off the Hook As people and communities seek accountability, the industry is pleading for an escape hatch.

Consensus about the causes & threats of climate change is nearly universal in the scientific community after decades of research. Judges should have access to this information. We can't keep letting the deep-pocketed, destructive, deceptive fossil fuel industry override the public interest.

Climate science removed from judicial manual after GOP complaints Republican attorneys general argued the new chapter would put judges “firmly on one side” of climate lawsuits against the fossil fuel industry.

More disturbing news today about the removal of scientific evidence from decision-making processes in our federal government. Censoring educational materials about the climate crisis will not make it go away - it will just make our public institutions less equipped to deal with it.

Systematic attribution of heatwaves to the emissions of carbon majors - Nature Climate change made 213 historical heatwaves reported over 2000–2023 more likely and more intense, to which each of the 180 carbon majors (fossil fuel and cement producers) substantially contributed.

Attribution science studies use the Carbon Majors data to link corporate emissions to real-world climate impacts that are harming ppl around the globe. One recent study found that emissions from the 178 Carbon Majors entities made 213 heatwaves reported between 2000-2023 more likely & more intense.

Statements by the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Organized climate obstruction activities are actively delaying the human response to the #climatecrisis, directly sabotaging international cooperation, making the Paris Agreement goals unattainable, and putting the lives of millions at risk. We must ban it from #COP30

Disasters like Odette are becoming more frequent & intense due to the fossil fuel-driven climate crisis. Shell has known for decades that fossil fuels stood to cause dangerous climate change, but chose to deceive the public, spread disinformation, and delay climate action to protect its profits.

Rally in front of the Massachusetts State House. Attendees are holding a banner reading, "Legislators: Which Path Will You Take?" In one direction painted signs show negative climate impacts, in the other direction signs show green trees and birds. A large banner in the background says "Make Polluters Pay." Rally in front of the Massachusetts State House. Attendees are holding a banner reading, "Legislators: Which Path Will You Take?" In the background is a banner reading "Make Polluters Pay Massachusetts." A person stands at the front speaking into a microphone, wearing a shirt reading "Make Polluters Pay." Next to a crowd rallying on the steps of the Massachusetts State House, a giant inflatable black oil barrel is attached to ropes and held aloft by four people. Black streamers representing oil pour out of one side. Yellow letters on the side of the barrel read "Make Polluters Pay!" A protest sign lying on a brick background. The sign shows dark blue water with waves at the bottom, and at the top leaping flames. The white text reads "Climate Change is No Accident." Underneath the text is the logo for the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Today's rally @ the MA State House in support of the climate superfund bill (H.1014/S.588) featured powerful art showing what's at stake in the movement for #ClimateJustice. We called on our legislators to #MakePollutersPay for their share of adaptation costs in the climate crisis they helped cause.

US banking regulators just withdrew guidance from 2 years ago on how big banks should manage climate risks.

The science hasn’t changed & the risks have only grown. The only difference is who’s in the White House.

So much for the Fed’s vaunted “independence” from politics.

President Trump’s Climate Crackdown Will Backfire as Lawsuits Expose Coal’s Dark Secrets Environmentalists have long suspected that the true depth of fossil fuel industry interference in addressing climate change goes far deeper than what has been reported.

Ironically, litigation intended to intimidate the finance sector out of climate-conscious investing may end up "outlining the coal companies’ decades-long efforts to obstruct the energy transition," writes UCS's Pallavi Phartiyal.
