This new science-policy panel is a critical opportunity to rebalance the scales. Let’s not replicate old patterns. Let’s build a future where every country has the tools and voice to protect people and the planet from harmful chemicals and waste.

🛠️ Building a fair system means:
- Equitable access to data and research
- Strengthening institutional and technical capacities
- Funding for implementation, not just participation
- Respecting and integrating local knowledge

🔬 Science-based policies are essential, but they must be informed by diverse perspectives and realities. Countries facing limited infrastructure, funding gaps, or insufficient technical expertise cannot be left behind as global decisions are made.

🌍 As the international community gathers in Uruguay to negotiate the new Science-Policy Panel on Chemicals, Waste, and Pollution Prevention, one message must be loud and clear: low and middle-income countries need meaningful support to be full partners in this effort.

As the structure and scope of the Panel take shape, addressing Conflicts of Interest is essential. Involving experts with vested interests in the Panel’s core work poses serious risks - potentially leading to biased outcomes, compromised integrity, or delays in urgently needed action.
