Brain has gone down a Live, Burn, New route - but no idea why it's specifically Andy Carroll.

Not a fan of Hoddle's co-commentary at the best of times, but whenever it's a "Noocarsul" game it's unbearable.

Yeah. "in that fight" hopefully on the other side this time, because you've said this before and ended up just pursuing 'Reform Lite' policies.

This! Labour’s leadership is being talked about as if it’s some kind of poisoned chalice.

In reality it’s a chance to take over the first term of a government with a huge majority. It’s the political opportunity of a lifetime.

Quite funny that Starmer's allies are waking up to this point now …

Cuts to Winter Fuel… not in the manifesto
Disability benefit cuts… not in there either
Cutting jury trials… also not there
Digital ID… no mention
Raising employers NI… nope
Freezing tax threholds… nah
Contracts with Palantir… no

I've heard of two - and only then because they were both contestants on Taskmaster.

I’m not sure ‘our national security developed vetting technique can be beaten if a candidate is prepared to lie’ is an especially helpful line to push.

for some reason all the techbros have been talking about building Dyson Spheres all of a sudden and to be clear: we are so comedically far from being able to build a dyson sphere that they may as well be promising magic. we are MILLENIA away from building dyson spheres

Even lamer... Whenever it's cold and raining at the SoL (every time), quip that "This lot will not be prepared for these conditions" as if a) we're playing Fiorentina week-in-week out and not Burnley and b) as if all our players are ex-shipyard workers from Roker, and not African internationals.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

I think, in 2026, it's remarkable (and "nice") to witness two people actually sticking to a promise.

TRUMP: I invented electricity. did it one day, turned on a lamp and a scientist gasped and said wow how did you do that and I said I just flicked a switch and he started crying and saying "sir you've just saved Africa from ebola"

The thing about Carney is, and it sounds simplistic, but *he gets it*.
The rules-based international order as we've known it all our life is dead. We can't start to build anything new until we've collectively accepted that and he's the only mainstream politician who has.

I like that the same day a guy was like “this place will never be Twitter” this thread gave us the most 2015 Twitter experience (complimentary) imaginable.

Broadly speaking, I'm supportive of this. Please ensure though, that it doesn't simply provide a potential escape lane for the companies (X etc.) allowing their sites to continue to create AI material that is inappropriate for any age.
