Simmons is very good with state level more local politics, would love to see him stay at the state or city level

Forget EVs. Cycling is revolutionising transport Pedal power is booming, spinning up a new culture war

By me this week - the happiest thing I've got to report of late, with a glorious trip over the summer to Montreal

I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America

a map of Chicago symbolized into four areas. RS zones in Pilot Areas will allow ADUs by right when the ordinance takes effect; RT, RM, B, and C1 and C2 zones will also allow ADUs by right when the ordinance takes effect. RS zones that are not in the pilot areas will require an opt-in ordinance. Other areas, shown in gray, will not allow ADUs. A note says that these zoning districts comprise PD, PMD, M, and D zoning districts.

this is my best attempt so far of mapping where the ADU compromise ordinance will apply

This intersection is so bad after studying it on google maps. The stop sign going west on Walton forces the driver into a dangerous intersection where the only way to clear Cicero is to go fast and visibility is completely impaired as you cross. This death is 100% on the city’s design

Chicago’s Divvy bikeshare shattered records in August:

🥇Highest month in program history: 995K rides
🥇Highest month for e-bikes: 500K+ rides
🥇Highest month for scooters: 200K+ rides

The City's efforts to make Divvy more affordable & accessible are paying off!

Have Thoughts On Chicago's Speed Cameras? You Can Weigh In Through A City Survey A city working group is seeking feedback on recommendations to make the speed camera program more equitable as Mayor Brandon Johnson's administration adds 50 cameras this year.

"When you see some of these cameras that are generating $1 million in revenue in year one and they’re still generating that much revenue in year 10, that’s a failure of speed control. That’s not a success." blockclubchicago.org/2025/08/20/h...

I generally agree, but as with any transportation network the ROI on bike lanes happens more when it becomes and actual network, so a lot of upfront investment is required

Its crazy how much can happen in a single bungalow. A lot of people don’t realize how much goes on in them. Renting out basements as ADUs is the natural progression of the bungalow belt
