This is policy without logic. Why even wait for the 2025 hurricane season to end?/s If it is important to wait for this year's season to finish, is the next year's season and the years after not important? Mind boggling.

Love what I am reading about the 2026 Chevy Bolt EV! The starting price is around $26,000, a super affordable price! The new design from their previous model also looks great, with good range and charging speed. I might just wait for this!

I was considering the 2025 Mini Cooper initially, but their launch in the US market is now delayed indefinitely due to the tariffs. This new model apparently comes with a higher range.

Yes, the plan is to just drive around town. This is all good to know. Will check some more. Was also considering a Kia EV, though it is not as cute at the Mini.

We are seeing failures at multiple levels - local, state & federal.

Interested to hear your thoughts on this. Have been considering a Mini Cooper Countryman EV, but it is outside my budget. Would have loved to purchase a BYD if this was available in the US, but of course would not qualify for EV tax credits.

This asks the right questions! Why would you build anything in a federally designated floodway that is in the deadly flash flood alley of Texas, let alone a camp for children? For a state as hazard prone as Texas, their approach to hazard mitigation could surely be a bit more serious. #TexasFloods

Agree 💯. Should also look at state-level failures. Texas is one of 10 states with highest loss from hazard events and the most no. of Presidential Declarations, but lacks political will to implement substantive hazard mitigation strategies.

Climate change is also causing more frequent & severe compound floods due to a combination of events temporally and spatially, related to pluvial/rainfall, fluvial/riverine, and coastal storm surges, and leading to a compounding of impacts. #TexasFloods

1/10. What's happening in Texas is nothing short of criminal neglect. Experts had warned that cuts to NOAA/NWS will cost lives. More importantly, Texas politicians are absolutely aware of the flood risks. How so? Their own State Hazard Mitigation Plan says so (more in thread below) #TexasFloods

9/10. Knowing all the above, the tragedy of Texas is that the state has done very little over the past decades to mitigate their flood risks. There are of course all kinds of plans on the books, but lack of political will means little substantive action. #TexasFloods

7/10. In fact, Texas is among the top 10 states with most frequent Presidential Disaster Declarations (PDDs). From the Spatial Hazards Events And Losses Database (SHELDUS) at Arizona State University. Majority of the PDDs in Texas are in response to floods, hurricanes, tropical storms.
