A return visit this morning after the excitement of finding the Arctic Warbler with @snixon66.bsky.social yesterday afternoon, gave great views in the hedge bordering the field to the South East of Gt Wigborough Churchyard. #essexbirding

Thanks to @darylrhymes.bsky.social for being why I went to Gt Wigborough Church to look for Spotted Flycatchers today. While with @snixon66.bsky.social at 3.30 a largish phyllosc dropped into a bush by us, Sean noted a wingbar, a few minutes later we were both watching a cracking Arctic Warbler!

Hi Thank you, it would be great to be added to the Birds feed as a contributor. As you can see I’m new to Bluesky, having only just started to post on this platform in the last week.

Good news for Turtle Doves in Essex ! Today on a survey for the RSPB at a farm that is well managed for wildlife, I was delighted to find 2 juveniles together. These photos won’t win any awards, but are evidence of hope in an uncertain time.

I was on holiday staying at a B&B on the Glebe, next to the meadow, so I have not submitted any records yet.
The meadow was a superb piece of ancient land, plenty of Lulworth Skippers & Marbled White, plus Dark Green Fritillary, Wall, Brown Argus, Rosy Knot-horn moth, and all the common species.

Found what I am pretty sure is Scabious Longhorn Nemophora metallica at Clayton Meadow on both 08 & 11 July with at least 4 in full sun on Field Scabious.
According to Dorset Moths their have been no recent records in Dorset!
