rolled credits after 10 hours playtime, with plenty more still to do for completion. but i finally got my girl kinoko in one of the very last stages and i've got her dressed as a cowpoke, so y'know: easy GOTY candidate for me for real though: game is jam-packed with content and i like the concept tying it all together which allows for varied and unique locations / eras for the stages to inject more variety than usual into the equation. power-ups make sense in their implementation even if the magnet is the clear stand-out best one you can hope to nab, KatamariBall is a fun little mode with some solid online potential, and the cousin customization is appreciated even if i can't actually be bothered to go through all the steps of it lol We ♥ Katamari REROLL(+ Royal Reverie) is still probably the best version of the best video game ever made tbqh imho, and is still gonna be my recommendation for folk getting into Katamari for the first time; but you can't really go too wrong with Once Upon a Katamari as your first either, or if you just haven't Katamari'd in a hot minute -- or hell, even if you've been keeping up with Katamari all these years. just do yourself a favor and play some goddamn Katamari, folks. 5/5*
