A fun night at the River Oaks Theatre with a rare screening of the 1997 comedy THE WRONG GUY, followed by a Q&A with actors and co-writers Dave Foley, David Higgins, and Jay Kogen.
Plus I got some autographs.

One day I was sitting at the office when I got an email in my inbox from Andrew W.K. with the subject line β€œI heard you liked to party hard.” I lost my shit before I opened the email and realized somebody just just signed me up for Andrew W.K.’s mailing list.

One of the cruelest pranks ever.

I was extremely honored to host comedy legends Dave Foley, David Higgins, and Jay Kogen for a screening of THE WRONG GUY at the River Oaks Theatre last night. Super nice guys, super funny film. Thanks to @antisoci-al-tran.bsky.social for grabbing the photo of the Q&A.

This is an incredible opportunity to watch a criminally underseen comedy on the big screen and listen to true comedy legends in a Q&A after the screening. Don’t miss it!

Two Different β€˜G.I. Joe’ Movies In Early Works At Paramount Between Danny McBride & Max Landis Two Different 'G.I. Joe' Movies In Early Works At Paramount Between Danny McBride & Max Landis

Of course, it's with Paramount that Max Landis finds his way back into Hollywood.

Paramount's biggest ticket seller last year was a flop and somehow they can buy the studio that had seven of the top 20 movies? I never would have passed business school, I guess.

27.02.2026 01:36 β€” πŸ‘ 36    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yup. It's going to be like Disney buying Fox all over again. A major studio will be stripmined for IP.

Other folks in exhibition will call me crazy, but Netflix buying Warner Brothers really was the better option. They care about movies, fund cool films, and their theatrical team is great to work with. WB would have elevated Netflix's theatrical game. Paramount owning WB adds nothing to the industry.

Just got a looksie at the fully designed cover for my next graphic novel and it’s taking all my will power not to share it on social media yet. It’s sooooo good, though. I can’t wait to get this book out into the world.

Sometimes I like to listen to Richard Thompson’s soundtrack to GRIZZLY MAN while I lay on the floor next to my dogs and pretend I’m in the Alaskan wilderness hanging out with grizzlies. Perfectly normal behavior, you know?

Christopher Hooks wrote an incredible article about the culture war happening at Texas A&M for TEXAS MONTHLY. And, while most of the article is infuriating, I love the fact he included the campus’ history of wolf attacks in the article. People always think I made that up in WHERE WOLF.

Houston! We're screening a sneak preview of one of my favorite films of the year tonight at TROT. This weirdo masterpiece is incredibly gross, but also funny, tender, and visually stunning. Plus, a post-screening cast and crew Q&A via the Magicβ„’ of Zoom!

I programmed an Audrey Hepburn series next month at the River Oaks Theatre, and you couldn't get me to touch BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S, a movie I know sells out without any promotion, with a ten-foot pole because of Mickey Rooney's role in the film.

There's something incredibly cathartic about watching PILLION in a time when so much of our current administration's focus is on policing how people love or even exist. The film is an ultimately non-judgmental celebration of the very specific ways in which different people find connection. See it!
