I'm starting to think we're living in a dystopian parody, a cross between SOUTHLAND TALES and BRAZIL with a dash of HER and THE TERMINATOR. Buckle up, things are going to get weird. www.thebulwark.com/p/every-day-...
06.03.2026 20:37 β π 9 π 3 π¬ 2 π 1I've long argued @sarahlongwell25.bsky.social's pod, The Focus Group, is the best thing you can listen to if you want to understand how *actual voters* think. She talks to them! You hear them! Needless to say, I'm preordering a copy of her book. You should too! www.amazon.com/dp/125046417...

"If you see a critic describe a film as interesting, or praise the director and stars for taking a 'big swing,' you know youβre in for an 'interesting' movie. "The Bride!" is an 'interesting' movie."
@sonnybunch.bsky.social reviews: lnk.thebulwark.com/4d5q6O8
Itβs a big interesting mess, for sure!
06.03.2026 15:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The only reason I didnβt mind these, honestly, is that Bale is doing something different and interesting in each of them. Ironically, given the filmβs penchant for overtly stating its feminist themes, he has a better handle on Frank than either Buckley (or Gyllenhaal) does on The Bride.
06.03.2026 13:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0THE BRIDE is a complete mess, just spectacularly misconceived. Doesnβt really work on any level. Frequently quite annoying, at least when it isnβt incomprehensible. But I was never bored! www.thebulwark.com/p/the-bride-...
06.03.2026 12:07 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 3 π 1Oh that's great! Yeah I had him on the show for a bonus episode, wanted to get it out there before this tour was over. I'm sure it'll be a fun chat!
05.03.2026 17:17 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0TONIGHT! Iβll be hosting a Q&A with SIRΔT director Oliver Laxe and screenwriter Santiago Fillol following the 7pm show at the Coolidge. And our friend @jshawhan.bsky.social is handling the Nashville screening on Sunday, so obviously these people have great taste in moderators.
05.03.2026 12:20 β π 6 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0One time the internet was out and my kids were like "aw we can't watch TOY STORY" and I was like "I HAVE WAITED MY WHOLE LIFE FOR SOMEONE TO SAY THAT."
04.03.2026 23:45 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0SIRAT is nominated for best international feature and best sound. I interviewed the director, Oliver Laxe, about finding community in the end of the world at a rave. Great interview, incredibly interesting movie. I hope you see it in a theater! www.thebulwark.com/p/sirat-and-...

27.02.2026 16:07 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Paramount may be a better or worse owner of WB than Netflix. One thing that's certain: the process by which Paramount gained control of WB is grotesque and un-American. www.thebulwark.com/p/paramount-...
27.02.2026 13:16 β π 25 π 8 π¬ 1 π 1Netflix is probably marginally less bad but only if you believe theyβll continue releasing movies in theaters. If Iβm a regulator Iβm extracting a guarantee of some sort that theyβll continue to do so.
25.02.2026 18:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was kind of worried @timmiller.bsky.social was going to have to do this alone, bad for his mental health. Thankfully @sarahlongwell25.bsky.social is here to share the load. open.substack.com/live-stream/...
