Yeah, I know what you mean. It can be seen as a bit of an inevitability but it really shouldn't. Look at Germany, their prices are much more reasonable but they can operate at the top level of European competition regularly. Unfortunately, it appears City are following the PL trend π

From a financial perspective, the club (as all businesses do) want to maximize revenue. Maybe the tactic is to price out and reduce the number of season ticket holders so they can sell more, every more expensively tiered, single match tickets. π€·ββοΈ (or maybe I am just being cynical)

This is the supporters clubs very valid argument. Essentially, what is the point in raising prices when all it does is anger the long standing fan base and not actually raise substantial funds.

Last few years, matchday revenue is ~10% of total. That number includes everything. Hospitality, food and drink, single tickets and season tickets among other matchday revenue. City could reduce season ticket costs by 25-50% and it would barely make a dent in their revenue values.

I can understand your point but the numbers don't really add up for that to be true. Matchday revenue used to be the primary source of income for clubs (still is for most outside the top 5 leagues). However, for a club like City it is not anymore.
