Best finish in Writing Battle so far. I can't wait to revise this story and sub it out.
Intake Incomplete
A biopunk story about bureaucracy, memory, and the cost of remaining compliant.

Final results are out later this afternoon, and while I'm thrilled to make the Thrilling 32, I think this where my story's journey ends in Writing Battle.
I love the story though. It's definitely getting a deep revision this week and getting subbed out.

In January, I received 15 rejections, 2 acceptances, and one hold from various magazines. I love this blackout poetry idea from @moirariom.bsky.social so I started doing it this year. Not all rejections spark blackout joy, but these did.

2026 is the year I stop drinking coffee again. Because I'll almost always choose tea. Iced. Hot. Green. Black. Earl Grey. Ginger-mint (preferably made with fresh ginger and mint). Green. Chai. All tea is good.
I'm pretty happy with that and looking forward to more acceptances and contest placings in 2026.

Congratulations!!
It's a Top 32 finish for my plant-based sword and sorcery story in Writing Battle. It did much better than I thought it would and is my highest-placing WB entry of the year. Also, received some good and actionable feedback that I'll put to good use when I revise this one.
Congratulations! Such a well-deserved win!!
That's awesome! Congratulations!
Shelfie time! πβ¨ This is just one of the many places my books hide β my TV console doubles as a tiny library. Iβm painting my living room so I can finally build a whole wall of shelves, but for now the books live wherever they can squeeze in. π

Exeter's story is fabulous. Go check it out!
So amazing!
Not the showing I'd hoped for, but across two contests I've created a world I want to explore more and characters with a story begging to be told. And that's a win. #contestgoblin #shortstory #writinglife
The length. Just 500 words. I'm of an age that writing by hand is more natural than typing. π I don't do it for longer stories; I end up editing and forgetting what I wrote then typing out new stuff and making a mess of things so longer pieces just get typed from the start
H-3: 10am. Took a play break outside.
Hour 2 (sort of?): 9am
The story has written itself. Time to type.
Yes. I do write the short ones by hand first.

Have you seen those hour-by-hour day-in-the-life challenges. Yep, gonna try one today. Here's hour 1: 8am.
1. Soaking the orchids that don't live in a basket and bark.
2. Today's to-do list + prompts.

You're the best! Thank you!
Coffee and a book. Currently reading the Florida Writers Association anthology (2025). One of my shorts makes an appearance though I'm mostly enjoying all the other stories in here.

I've procrastinated enough today. Time to go write.
Sometimes prompts do not spark joy. π But I set my brain to the task while I slept, and it came up with an idea that (hopefullyπ€) won't be done by everyone else participating this month.
September was rough π Family health struggles + a new job meant writing slipped away. But today β a lift πΈβ¨ Two of my poems were accepted by Hibiscus Lit Mag! Grateful, teary, and holding onto the reminder that words still find their place π₯Ήπ

Snagged a runner-up because you deserve it! Congratulations!!π
I just submitted my entry for this month's Furious Fiction contest. We were prompted to use a famous landmark as a location, and I wonder...
What famous landmark would you choose?
(the one I chose is not one of these, btw)

I've got outlines for a few others outside the contest based on these prompts. Lots of fun!
I love these prompts!
I see what you did there with the darlings. π

Furiously drafting for Furious Fiction β
My goal for @notquitewrite.com in April was a shoutout. Mission accomplished.
This one has a new title - "The Bag Stops Here" - another 450 words and has been subbed out to find a new home.
