🧵 The National Center for Public Policy Research, right-wing activist group that overwhelmingly lost anti-DEI shareholder proposals at Costco, Apple, Deere and Disney, has launched a new app targeting nearly 100 corporations, based on "Wokeness ratings." Costco foot-traffic up for 12 straight weeks.

The people @propublica
combed through court filings submitted under penalty of perjury, in a lawsuit involving SpaceX to uncover that Elon Musk is funneling Chinese Communist money to himself through the Cayman Islands.

Negligently disclosing national defense information is illegal — and it doesn't have to be classified The Espionage Act, the law that often has been used in criminal cases involving leaks or mishandling of classified information, contains a provision making it

NBC News: The Espionage Act contains a provision making it crime to disclose national defense secrets "through gross negligence."

The law does not require info be classified, because it was written before the classification system existed. The law refers simply to "national defense information."

Much of the media's attention is focused on what harm Pete Hegseth's reckless irresponsibility might do to him, when it should be focused on what harm it could have done to our troops--and *will* do to our relationships with allies, especially in Europe.

There are RULES for gov’t documents—who has them, sees them, keeps them, where they’re kept—because they’re a record of gov’t business.

Not open to all—but containing the doings & ACCOUNTABILITY of what our gov’t does.

The Nat’l Archives stores much of that vital data.

DJT fired the archivist.

Pete Hegseth is a f*cking liar. This is so clearly classified info he recklessly leaked that could’ve gotten our pilots killed.

He needs to resign in disgrace immediately.

I know it bothers you as much as it does me that journalism as an institution can’t process that what it’s seeing on a daily basis is evil people doing evil sh*t

Not incompetence, not naivete, not negligence, not mispeaking, not mixups, not miscommunications: straight-up evil people doing evil sh*t

And I’m aware, as a 30-year working journalist and retired journalism professor, that in normal times this isn’t how we want or expect journalists to speak or think

But these aren’t normal times

What’s happening in America—daily—is that evil people with power are very intentionally doing evil sh*t

I appreciate that Jeffrey Goldberg did not sit on this news for a book that he writes two years from now

They’re not going to get out of this by playing semantics.

Sending detailed information about an upcoming military strike on unclassified channels (and even to the wrong guy) is wrong, reckless, and obviously a threat to American troops.

Ossoff: He’s so consumed by his efforts to secure revenge, crush his enemies, and conquer Greenland that he’s doing nothing for the people who elected him. His entire domestic agenda is tax breaks for the wealthy, rounding up immigrants, revenge, and centralizing as much power as he can..
