I only played up to the third world until dropping it, but I’ve been wanting to go back to it

It seems decently enjoyable for what it is. I’d say it probably was a bit overrated on release, but nowadays leans more on being overhated

It’s my favorite of the 4. Introduced a lot of cool enemies, bosses, elements, and has a great sense of threat and challenge throughout.

I think the only time I disliked a port beyond not just considering it the definitive version of the game(s) was Sonic Origins

I half agree, it seemed kinda rushed just because they wanted it to advertise the theme park they decided to already theme to Returns they planned back in the 2010s, but at least it doesn’t have motion controls and still is smoother compared to the 3DS version in terms of frame rate on Switch 1

At least for single player since I heard multiplayer still has a weird bug regarding two players jumping on the same enemy at the same time

Returns HD was the first game I played on Switch 2 finishing up a file from my original Switch. I definitely noticed the load times being faster and no frame stuttering

I still think they should’ve optimized a Wii game better for the OG but on Switch 2 it’s probably the best version of the game
