A short-toed snake eagle has the Latin name of Circaetus gallicus. This bird has brown and white feathers.

Two years ago a short-toed snake eagle visited us (pic on the right). We had a walk yesterday and we found a feather of it. Another family lives in the valley. Snake eagles could be unfortunately illegally killed by hunters on their way to Africa cause they are beautiful birds. #nature

I checked it in German and Italian. German name is "Mauerfuchs" (lit. Wall fox) and Italian is "Megera", from the Latin name. Megera also has a very bad meaning in Italian, more or less like the English "b*tch". Interesting 🤔
