4. Just because a site shares your political leanings, remain skeptical of all information they post. Always get news from multiple sources. Never rely on a single news source.
5. Remember, ALL news outlets are somewhat biased. For-profit cable news and billionaire-own papers are particularly bad.

1. Research before you share any url.
2. If you don’t have time to research it, don’t share it.
3. Be skeptical about links others share from sites you don’t know or have any experience with. Use critical thinking skills.

I would add, website owners need to go back to having a “links page” that helps people find other related or interesting websites. Search engines are becoming less useful, full of ads and paid content, and are incredibly biased towards large corporate websites.

Not surprised, but I did several searches on the Fox website and I didn't see a single mention of this. If they did, it's buried beneath a mountain of shit reporting. Can't have the Fox cult members seeing anything that might make their golden children look bad or manipulative. Can't have that.. 🙄

The US needs to ban ALL election donations. Create a public election fund where each viable candidate (after an open primary) gets a finite amount. The moment a candidate goes over budget, they get disqualified for not being able to manage a fucking budget.

Also, ban all political parties as well 😁

One solution is incredibly simple. Stop using the products and services that allow these people to consolidate money and power. There is a growing number of alternatives to those platforms. While not always perfect, Bluesky, Mastodon, Signal, Wikipedia and Mozilla are great examples of alternatives.

Interesting tidbit of info. Services like Usenet and IRC still exist. They are less user-friendly than most social media these days, but they are still there and being used.

I’ve blocked hundreds of users on FB. Some would say I’m creating my own bubble or echo chamber. Ok, but my response is that I’m also choosing to not engage with abusers and hateful people for the sake of my own sanity. I’ve weighed the pros and cons, and frankly, blocking is more healthy.

The problem is that Fox (and other right-wing propaganda) will perform verbal gymnastics to blame “the libs” if prices go up. Even with the GOP controlling all three branches of government, they will find ways to deflect blame.

..and their viewers will believe every damn line of BS they feed them.

This is incredibly disturbing and unacceptable. We can do better.
