Well FB is often rather slow about such things. Give it a few hours and maybe it will have caught up. Probably busier on weekendsβ¦.
05.10.2025 16:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hmmm, there should be an invite to join the Dave group. Maybe it doesnβt go into the inbox but some other mechanism. (Thatβs one of my [many] gripes about social media β each platform gives us usually at least two and sometimes more inboxes to have to go check!)
05.10.2025 15:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Speaking of which, check your Facebook inbox. :-)
05.10.2025 15:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Its profile says it gauges the mood of Bsky. Yes, itβs just silly fun, but it canβt even begin to do what it claims to do, without distinguishing between such uses. Adding standard sentiment analysis techniques would help, and it could still be a swear-bot by only looking at posts with swears.
05.10.2025 11:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well, people have long said you should be committedβ¦. ;-)
05.10.2025 11:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0How can it judge overall mood when it apparently doesnβt distinguish between βfucking awesomeβ and βfucking horrible", or between βthat was total shitβ and βthat was some good shitβ? Not to mention, uses of swear words in a purely inquisitive quotational setting, such as this message!
05.10.2025 01:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Maybe you could do stego in a followup talk, like how Iβve been pitching one (albeit unsuccessfully so far) on how to use mutation testing to build a unit test suite in the first place.
05.10.2025 01:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There are still some in that one, but you can check out the longer ones. In particular, donβt just listen to it while doing other stuff your watching, watch the video, I do a lot of visual puns and related references. (Plus in the ones from mid-2021 on, thereβs a very helpful diagram.)
05.10.2025 01:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is one of the shortest versions Iβve done; I deliberately chopped out all the blather that was just related puns or whatever. So, it should be a good dense intro, and if you want more, check out the long ones in the Mutation Testing playlist in my YouTube channel.
04.10.2025 23:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have uploaded the version of my "Kill All Mutants! (Intro to Mutation Testing)" talk that I gave at the September 2025 meetup of PyDistrict (the Washington DC #Python group), at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTMO...

Information about spodiks, Hasidic Jewish hats similar to shtreimels but with a tall middle
Moai on Rapa Nui, aka torso statues on Easter Island
Hmmm . . . Moses, Moai, it all makes sense now! It's really Passover Island! (Just like how Die Hard is really a Chanukah movie!)

Todayβs #Mead Adventures: Sweetened the cyser with another 6 fl oz of apple concentrate, re-stabilized, and bottled. Racked the wildflower from primary onto stabilizers and 12ozA clover honey. (When clear, will combine that with the grape ones to make them less grapey.) DID NOT start a new batch.
23.09.2025 19:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Go not to the LLMs for counsel, for they will say both no and yes -- when the answer is really 42.
19.09.2025 13:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Todayβs #Mead Adventures: Not much, just racked the cold-crashed #cyser off another layer of lees. Gonna let it crash for two more weeks at room temp rather than chilled, so the bottles donβt get condensation.
18.09.2025 19:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And, because there are no penalties. Want something to stop? Gotta have penalties, plus reasonably swift and certain enforcement. Weβve severely reduced all three factors for most crime, and they've rarely even existed for most governmental/corporate misbehavior, with predictable results.
14.09.2025 14:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0With all thatβs going on in the world? Iβm ramping up. Maybe less once we move to Portugal, as Iβll be leaving my brewing equipment behind. (On the other claw, you can get a very nice bottle of wine for well under β¬5 at pretty much any grocery store there.)
14.09.2025 14:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβd love to but your CfP isnβt open yet! ;-)
10.09.2025 12:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Please announce far and wide when you open your Call for Speakers! :-)
09.09.2025 19:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Todayβs #Mead Adventures: racked the cyser from the bucket to a jug for cold-crashing, and started a new batch, 2.5 lbs wildflower plus water to a gallon, to dilute the pyment and the other grape mead to make it all not so intensely grape-y. Good thing I have a 3-gallon Fermonster to blend them in!
06.09.2025 18:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Software conference CfPs (Calls for Papers, Presentations, etc.) closing in the next 30 days include:

- Python confs in Indonesia, Poland, and Brazil
- Stack-agnostic conferences in UK, Canada, and Malaysia
and more. For details, see link in first comment (*&^%$#@ algorithm!).
The whole thing? Probably not, especially the empty bits between the lumpy bits. And the hot bits. Other than that, though, maybe. It would take a very long time, but I think after we get the first few out of the way, we should be able to keep ahead of demand from then on.
30.08.2025 18:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Meh, itβs okay, not bad, lots of room for improvement, but itβs the only one weβve got. (As far as we know!)
30.08.2025 17:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0How it started and how itβs going?
