10: quite enjoying this, and it's making reading kant much easier for me. came across pinkard because i was looking for what version of hegel to read, and he clearly knows his stuff. but from this i mostly wanted to get the idealists other than kant and hegel for context.
i want the social contagion of transgenderism to be real. i want to be a super spreader
9: love the og vampire yuri. gayer than just getting the characters to kiss. feudalism was the real horror all along.
8: i loved it so much and it's such an important work, it speaks for itself. i have nothing else to say but that i wish i'd read it earlier in my life.
7: much to think about. there were parts i disliked because they veered into close to biological determinism territory, but then there's incisive critiques of how we view sex and if liberation is possible. i like her writing style.
6: kinda disappointing. could've been an email. there are some good parts and then there are others where i had to scribble in the margin "is he stupid?" i kinda wish to unread it.
5: ~200 pages in because i wanted to read kant, hegel, and some german idealists before reading some of early Marx. it's a hard read but i'm enjoying it.
4: still on this. wanted something on non-western philosophy as well since i was doing western philosophy, and this came recommended from a friend. really liking it so far.
3: reread this after a decade because i wanted a refresher on western philosophy (specifically epicurus and the hellenistic age) before digging into kant and hegel to be able to get to some of marx's early writings on philosophy.
sooo good!! baby's first philosophy book
1 and 2:
the first couple books in the "age of..." series by hobsbawm. great examples of marxist historiography and opened my brain to so many new things. also made me want to visit a lot of specific places in europe (this year inshallah)
my monthly check in here. decided i'll make my currently reading thread here as well just to shift some of my time off twt to here.

Reply: Really. What about the death of a loved one
me, to my most hated friend: great news!
A junior developer approached me during my midday snack (I don't take lunch; too much time not grinding!) to ask how to be a visionary like me. I considered firing them for their insolence, but given that I had already taken my hourly 3g microdose, I instead docked their pay.
A win for the P&L.
i was on forums in late 2000s but never specifically somethingawful so i don't know what their deal is right now or how good the posting there is in general in big 2024 but from what i've seen so far it seems like almost a haven from the bot-infested and algorithmically curated rest of the internet
i'm using the free registration period on somethingawful to check out the forums and the fact that there's no algorithmic moderation of what content i see is sort of short-circuiting my brain
lmao. manifesting for you
