I've been really impressed with my journal from @cortexbrand.com. @myke.social put in a lot of work in the design and it really shows in the quality product. Thanks to you and to Grey for introducing this idea and the journal!!

It's not a "beginner level" theme, but I think it has already had a positive influence after a month: I am able to see more of my desk...slowly but surely, and I'm making steadier progress on things.

Yesterday, I was able to structure things and was able to write a 2500 word "Stone" in 3 hours.

- Foundation - Make "Stones" and plug "holes" in the foundation. "Stones" here are things that can be reused - template e-mails, templates for procedures. "holes" are either "I really should read up on X" or "I need keep dirty socks in the laundry room".

- Structure - Many of those "scripts" lump themselves into bundles - There's the "Startup" bundle (take a shower, grab phone, ...) and the "shutdown" bundle (power phone, power watch, ...). But there's also, "Structure" my information. I'm using Obsidian and NextCloud Collectives to collect things.

So... After mulling over a possible theme for this year... I settled about a month ago on:

- Foundation, Structure, and Systems

For me that means:
- Systematize work - Use recurring tasks in Todoist to remind myself to get these done... like "Find and get rid of 10 things", "Make progress on IT".

Most of my choir isn't like this.

I had a choir for 6 years that I left before picking up this one. Exactly these two came with me. I've always had a very good connection with them... for close to 10 years now.

You understand the difference between "this needs immediate attention" and "this can wait".

What did I do?

- I went into my IT room
- closed outlook
- took a short break every 45 minutes
- stared daggers at any colleague who wanted to talk to me
- preemptively forgot to charge my phone... So nobody got through....oops

It's amazing what limiting distractions can do....

Wrote about 2500 words in about 3 hours.

Two members of my choir surprised me for my birthday..... With a hug. Two 70 year old grandmas with beaming smiles and what felt like a truly sincere hug and birthday wishes...
