Olive Welch - Green candidate for Worksop West My background and track record: I moved to Bassetlaw three years ago and fell in love with the area and the community that lives here. I am a legal researcher, with a background in international human rights law. Prior to my current role, I worked in the Post-16 Centre and Outwood Academy Portland in Worksop, supporting students with their university applications. Why I am standing in Worksop West: It’s clear that the major parties have let this area down, so I’m standing to provide people living in Worksop West with a real alternative on the ballot paper. It is my firm belief that Green politics - those of environmentalism, of inclusion, and of social and economic justice - offer a path towards a fairer society. One where public services are properly funded, where workers are treated with dignity, and where communities across Bassetlaw have the resources that they need to thrive. am passionate about supporting our community and am always looking for ways to get involved and help out. I have been actively supporting the campaign to oppose the proposed plastics incinerator on Shireoaks Road, so it’s possible that I have already knocked on your door a few times to hand out leaflets!

As we approach the NCC #LocalElections2025 on the 1st of May, I wanted to share more about my reasons for standing in Worksop West.
