U=U applies for some pregnancies, but not breastfeeding The risk of vertical HIV transmission – from mother to child during pregnancy or delivery – is zero when a mother has a fully suppressed viral load from the time of conception until after giving birth, an analysis combining 138 studies and 82,723 month-infant pairs has concluded. The analysis found that if viral load is above 50 copies but below 1000 copies during pregnancy, the risk of vertical transmission is approximately one in 77 – in other words, for every 77 pregnancies where viral load is detectable but below 1000 copies, one will result in vertical HIV transmission.

Black and white photo of a shorthaired tabby kitten appearing to burst through a sheet of white paper in a dark frame. Text at the bottom reads “sauve qui peut”.

“Sauve qui peut”. This is a French phrase that translates to something like “run for your life!” or “every man for himself!”, indicating a chaotic or dangerous situation. Postcard from my collection, no date/info.

The Impact of Age Verification Measures Goes Beyond Porn Sites As age verification bills pass across the world under the guise of “keeping children safe online,” governments are increasingly giving themselves the authority to decide what topics are deemed “safe” ...

As more U.S. states and countries pass age verification laws, it is crucial to recognize the broader implications these measures have on privacy, free speech, and access to information.

"Dear Scarleteen, It seems that anytime I masturbate, I can’t have any thoughts linked to the task at hand. Thinking of myself having sex or doing anything sexual during this usually makes me feel uncomfortable or inappropriate. However, I am perfectly fine and even aroused by these thoughts at any other given time. I don’t think I am asexual, and I am still a virgin. Do you know why that is, and could you perhaps give me tips on how to solve this, so I don’t feel so awkward?"

Scarleteen volunteer Aliah Maharaj answers this question with care, sensitivity and good help in their debut column today! #stigma #advice #pleasure Read the answer here: www.scarleteen.com/read/sex-s...

Text in playful fonts on on lined paper (with a small illustration of a shower head) upon a leopard print background reads...

"Dear Scarleteen, I've recently been experimenting with using water as a masturbation technique. I'm 14, female, and am just getting into masturbating. I realized that if I position myself in the shower in a particular position, the water helps me orgasm, but because I'm new to this, I wanted to make sure that this is okay to do from a health perspective and a long term perspective."

"Kelli Dunham answers:"

"The short answer to your question is that using water as a masturbation technique is probably fine. The longer answer (life always has a longer answer) is 'but take some precautions to keep it safe.'"

"Read the rest of the answer at Scarleteen, Queer Sex Ed For All Since 1998."

Today, in our latest #advice piece, Kelli Dunham answers Lilly who writes in to ask us about any health, safety or long-term risks of using water in the #shower for masturbation! #health #safety Read more here: www.scarleteen.com/read/sex-s...

Instagram blocked teens from searching LGBTQ-related content for months Posts with LGBTQ+ hashtags were hidden under Meta's “sensitive content” policy which restricts "sexually suggestive content"

One of the most prominent voices boosting policies like Meta's sensitive content restrictions is NYU professor Jonathan Haidt, whose dubious book, The Anxious Generation falsely ties social media use to teen mental health issues in order to push a moral panic about kids and technology use.
