Canva keeps sending me adds how I never will have to work again, "scientific journals" keep offering to publish my "important research".
Are we just always going to be dodging scammers whatever we do until one finally gets us?
Every week there's another phishing test at work (that they never admit are tests unless you fail), artist friends get requests on Instagram that turn out to be scams, my mum gets text messages asking for her bank details for her winter fuel allowance
I posted in a lost pets page on Facebook trying to get my cat back and within the hour I had someone contact me trying to scam me out of money with "AI powered drones".
I despair that this is just the world now
We do not get out of fascism by saving ourselves and turning our backs on others. We get out through solidarity with everyone—especially the most vulnerable.
As the person who wrote my favorite horror novel: What's your favorite horror novel?
so many of the moments of joy and peace I think about often have to with activism, mutual aid or generally being in community with other people trying to make the world better.
God it must be miserable having your sense of meaning be nothing but your own superiority
oh no, young people are finding meaning and community in trying to make the world a little better. The horror
perfect horror story for Halloween
study after study after study shows that literally just handing people money and telling them "do what you want with this" reduces homelessness, increases food security for children, makes it more likely people will find and retain jobs.1

When we were kids my brother once miscalculated and was too full to eat the best and last slice of pizza he had. He cried. I still remember how unfair it was.
Delayed gratification is for suckers
everything sucks but I love this
I was cycling down a one way street and pulled over when I saw a big double decker bus come towards me. The driver blinked his lights at me and gave a little thank you wave and I can think of no higher authority than a double decker bus driver to say that you can do whatever you want on a bike
tattoos on your hands don't last very well so you could probably get their knuckles tattooed and it would be gone once they reach adulthood. I see zero ethical issues here
absolute perfection on the screenshot though
it's funny that kölsch just seems to be the flemish but with more umlaut. Basically what someone from cologne would sound trying to pronounce aardappel
Some parts of Germany too. We call them Erdäpfel or Äädappel in Kölsch
Another example of university managements weaponising dignity at work rules to silence critique of the rulers by the serfs. Something my colleagues and I have experienced here too.
social media needs to be regulated and treated very much like we currently treat drugs.
that's long term. in the immediate term? focus on the 75% of men who aren't voting for fascists. you will have more luck reaching and organizing them than deradicalizing Andrew Tate fans.

An important public awareness piece by the @thedailytism.bsky.social. So many possible faux pas can now be avoided 😂
thedailytism.com/the-autistic...
there is a whole book in there about neurodivergence and abusive men and how they use their neurodivergence both as a short hand for supremacy and as a shield to ward off being held accountable
See how quick the switch is from "Autism is a super power that makes him super rational and smart" to "poor autistic boy just got overexcited and didn't know what he was doing"
random and useless knowledge but "Nimm dir ein Beispiel an Donald Trump" is a line from Deichkind's Bück dich hoch.
Not a bad soundtrack to all of this
Yes. German media is not taking this seriously enough. Please, let’s stop with the nonsense of “dealing successfully with its past”. Two nights ago I walked past a huge far-right political advert in the middle of Berlin, whose text contained the verb “kämpfen” (to struggle) - a nod to “Mein Kampf”.
Mary Oliver bringing truth this morning.
@maryoliverdaily.bsky.social
made my brother and sister in law a wedding embroidery. So very pleased with it
Aaron Swartz died because rapacious capitalists insisted that sharing knowledge and ideas — not for profit but to enrich society — was theft. Now we have a whole Silicon Valley industry devoted to undoing artistic copyright, and for what? Fake emails and shitty advertising copy.
I care tremendously. And is this a good time to bring up that i am really hoping for a @jortsthecat.bsky.social episode? maybe one that also disables disability activist about what good reasonable adjustments look like?
