Thank you. Finally some sense. He is a very good player.

It’s hard to say for sure if this is more a tactics thing or lack of execution but these are good points

Fair but we looked arguably even worse once Bentancur came off and Simons moved to the 10. Think the pass map showed issues with Richarlison hold up play and Bergvall receiving the ball in forward positions if anything . From watching the 1st half we seemed fine with attacking threat.

Note that for the heatmaps, the left one is for the Wolves match where we played 'LW'. right one is against Brighton where he played as a '10'. Not much difference

Xavi struggles, not because of LW.

Sloppy touches, misplaced passes, and little overall influence. This was not about being on the left wing. His movement inside matched the system’s demands, but his execution fell short.

2nd Half:
Wolves’ switch to a back three flipped the match:

- Spurs lost their rhythm.
- Vicario’s mistake gifted Wolves the opener.
- Bentancur was subbed, Xavi shifted into the 10 role and Spurs looked worse, not better.

Subs failed to add quality, and Kudus struggled after moving over to LW

First Half:
Spurs controlled possession, created attacking momentum, and should have scored:

- Kudus was denied by a great save.
- Kudus and Bergvall combined for a goal, but it was ruled offside (0 xG).
- Bergvall whiffed a golden chance in front of goal (0 xG).

Premier League Matchweek 6 Review: Spurs vs Wolves A closer look at the tactics, data, and key turning points behind Spurs’ disappointing 1–1 draw

Much of the debate after MW6 focused on Bentancur starting with Palhinha and Xavi at LW. But the evidence tells a different story: Spurs played well first half - the collapse came after Wolves’ tactical change + ineffective subs.

Another clean sheet, some rotation, some goals βœ”οΈ

Gray and Johnson very good matches.

Sloppy start to the 2nd half from the team but overall deserved winners #COYS

Agreed. Gray was excellent. He has quality on the ball and decision making. Nice to see him playing higher up the pitch.

Both Gray and Bentancur having good matches.

Bentancur more sitting back as a 6. Gray playing higher up the pitch on the right side, making some deep runs into the right channels. calm on the ball and good decision making. #COYS

Yes I was wrong . Surprising Palhinha at CB considering he almost never plays it in his career but I like it .

Wonder who will play farther forward, Gray or Bentancur.. or more fluid double pivot with both rotating πŸ€”

Likely starting lineup. I think Frank sees Gray as CB as a Romero type of replacement with his passing and carrying abilities which we rely on for progression

Not sure I agree though. doubt Palhinha will be at CB but could see him slotting into back for cover when Gray progresses forward. #COYS

What went wrong on Brighton’s 1st goal:
β€’ Bentancur & Palhinha press high but leave central pass open.
β€’ Van de Ven steps up too late, space opens for Minteh.
β€’ Udogie caught high, Odobert can’t recover β†’ Minteh races clear.

Palhinha a dueling monster with 8/10 ground duels won, including a crunching duel, sparking a well-worked attacking sequence that resulted in a goal for Richarlison.

Pass map highlights balanced connections across the pitch.
Kudus stood out as the hub - receiving from everywhere, holding under pressure, and driving Spurs’ progression.

Fun fact: Cristian Romero recorded 5 interceptions this weekend, his joint most he's ever recorded in a PL match. He also won a massive 7 out of 11 ground duels and 4 out of 6 aerial duels.
He was so aggressive and kept us on the front-foot. Elite player πŸ’ͺ #COYS
