I was lucky enough to work a couple of times at a studio in Weymouth in the UK which had a number of traditional studios with light equipment and sets and also was attached to an old disused brewery that provided some really cool old windows and natural light urbex feeling. This capture was on the top of the stairs leading to the studio and just couldn’t resist the window lighting and as always Marmalade strikes the perfect pose standing nude in the edge of the window with her arms folded across her body. We did also do a few pictures in the studio but to be honest by then in my history as a photographer I had already fallen in love with shooting totally natural light and specializing in that , so the best captures we did were in the brewery with no other lighting than the dusty old windows.

Marmalade took me to this place to do my first shoot with her , to be honest I hadn’t been to many urbex sites and this was like a real adventure. Looking back I wish we had stayed there all day taking pictures but at first I was a little shocked because everything seemed so dark and dusty and broken down. I was thinking it would be hard to find anywhere to take anything decent. But it’s these type of trips that really teach you how to look for light opportunities and how to set up the camera to get the balance in the picture right. The UK has some really great old buildings still without too much graffiti and with broken down old character. Long ago they still created factories with character and arches and beautiful windows … compared to modern factories they were works of art 🖼️ For this picture the main light came from the window above the door , but there was also some light from the left hand side window which was very dusty but you can see the touch of light if you look on Marmalades knee and feet..

Taken in an old brewery at the back of the barrels that were used for brewing beer (I think) anyway the light from the window is just enough to light the body and marmalade pulls off a great pose
