sichuan weasel, an extremely rare weasel, known only from one or two deceased specimens. it is very similar to and was once considered a subspecies of the least weasel, but genetic analysis indicates it is more closely related to the stoats. like the least weasel, it is small with a brown dorsal coat and thin tail. unlike the least weasel, it has a white chin and yellowish underside, and the tail is much longer, and seems to have a darker tip. it is apparently not known to develop a white winter coat as in the least weasel, stoats, and long-tailed weasel. like other weasels, it has a long body and short legs and ears.

a very rare, fairly large weasel. very similar to closely related amazon weasel but slightly darker. it has dark brown, nearly black fur, with a buff yellowish-orange underside. down the middle of the underside is often a stripe or irregular splotches of the same color as the dorsal fur. like other weasels, it has a long body and short ears and legs. the tail is very slightly bushy.

a very rare weasel; only one live specimen has been recorded so far. it is a fairly large weasel with dark reddish-brown fur and a buff-yellowish underside. the chin may be whitish. down the middle of the underside is a thick stripe the same color as the dorsal fur. it is very similar in appearance to the closely related colombian weasel, but slightly lighter in color.

haida ermine in winter coat; pure white except for a black tail tip. during the summer, it is brown with a white underside and same black tail tip. all three stoat species have this same general coloration including seasonal color change, but the haida ermine appears to have a slightly darker summer coat, and comparatively slightly shorter tail. the three species are morphologically very similar; the haida ermine is officially distinguished mostly by the elongated skull in its morphology. it is thought to be a result of hybrid speciation between the eurasian and american ermines. like other weasels, it has a long body and short legs. photographs of its summer coat seem to currently only be of deceased specimens.
