sichuan weasel, an extremely rare weasel, known only from one or two deceased specimens. it is very similar to and was once considered a subspecies of the least weasel, but genetic analysis indicates it is more closely related to the stoats. like the least weasel, it is small with a brown dorsal coat and thin tail. unlike the least weasel, it has a white chin and yellowish underside, and the tail is much longer, and seems to have a darker tip. it is apparently not known to develop a white winter coat as in the least weasel, stoats, and long-tailed weasel. like other weasels, it has a long body and short legs and ears.

a very rare, fairly large weasel. very similar to closely related amazon weasel but slightly darker. it has dark brown, nearly black fur, with a buff yellowish-orange underside. down the middle of the underside is often a stripe or irregular splotches of the same color as the dorsal fur. like other weasels, it has a long body and short ears and legs. the tail is very slightly bushy.

a very rare weasel; only one live specimen has been recorded so far. it is a fairly large weasel with dark reddish-brown fur and a buff-yellowish underside. the chin may be whitish. down the middle of the underside is a thick stripe the same color as the dorsal fur. it is very similar in appearance to the closely related colombian weasel, but slightly lighter in color.

haida ermine in winter coat; pure white except for a black tail tip. during the summer, it is brown with a white underside and same black tail tip. all three stoat species have this same general coloration including seasonal color change, but the haida ermine appears to have a slightly darker summer coat, and comparatively slightly shorter tail. the three species are morphologically very similar; the haida ermine is officially distinguished mostly by the elongated skull in its morphology. it is thought to be a result of hybrid speciation between the eurasian and american ermines. like other weasels, it has a long body and short legs. photographs of its summer coat seem to currently only be of deceased specimens.

a rhinoceros-sized, elephant-like animal. it is an early proboscidean, related to true elephants; the barytheriids are the first proboscideans to acquire large size. compared to modern elephants, it had shorter legs and a much shorter, more tapir-like trunk. it had upper and lower tusks, but they were shorter and did not protrude from the mouth. it is depicted here with much smaller ears than modern elephants. its skin is grey with faint pinkish mottling on its underside. it is indicated to have been a semi-aquatic herbivore feeding on aquatic plants.

doedicurus clavicaudatus, a very large species of extinct armadillo belonging to the still extant family, chlamyphoridae. depicted with pale skin and some white hair on its underside. it is a glyptodont, belonging to the glyptodontinae subfamily. notable for its spiked, clubbed tail. like other glyptodonts, its head was large, round, and blunt, and it had a large, unbanded carapace.

harpagolestes immanis, a mesonychian mesonychid, an early hoofed carnivore. notable for its large size, comparable to a grey wolf. depicted with mottled grey fur and a long, dog-like tail. mesonychians were fairly dog-like creatures with five digits on each foot, but each digit had a small hoof to improve speed and endurance, therefore sacrificing the ability to grapple with prey and instead enlarging the skulls to house strong muscles associated with bite force.

leptictidium auderiense, a small animal somewhat resembling a bipedal, hopping elephant shrew. it is depicted with brown fur and lighter spots and stripes along the back, and a long, tufted tail. it has a long snout. while the morphology of its leg bones appear built for hopping like a kangaroo, it may not have been able to withstand the stress on the legs for long and possibly would locomote by bipedal running more often, similar to birds and theropod dinosaurs, though it may have hopped occasionally to increase speed. it is considered to have belonged to a group outside of but closely related to placentals.

didelphodon vorax, an early mammal resembling a sort of opossum-otter cross that lived in the mesozoic era alongside dinosaurs. it is depicted with dark brown fur. recent analysis indicates some aquatic behaviors. it was large for a mesozoic mammal, slightly larger than a virginia opossum. despite its name, it is not an opossum, but it is a metatherian related to marsupials.

a small bat with large ears and a tall, prominent nose leaf. its eyes are fairly large and snout round and blunt. it is shiny brownish-grey with a lighter underside. like all bats, it has arms and fingers elongated and modified into wings with thin skin stretched between the digits and connecting to the legs. the feet are positioned backward to allow the bat to hang from surfaces. it is nocturnal and hypercarnivorous, preying on various small animals, including other bats. it hunts both by actively searching for prey and waiting in ambush. it tends to fly low to the ground or water in search of prey. it may or may not use echolocation to find prey. despite its name, it is not a true vampire bat (subfamily desmodontinae of family phyllostomidae), and does not suck or actively seek blood so much as meat. they are solitary, though females will bring small pups on their hunting trips to keep them supervised.
